Went to target asked the clerk if they got the Nes mini. Found the bar code and grabbed 3 in the back. Went to the register so he can cash me out and the screen says can't sell it till 11/11.
I fought to get it and no go. Had it in my hands and all.
Oh my target only had 5 of them
That is what happened to me having pulled two of the NES Classic Controllers for my Wii from Receiving. Ah well, I know two stores have three gamepads at one store and nine at the other; will pickup two on Friday. Oh and the second store has 8 of the HDMI PlugNPlay consoles (so tiny!), though I have no need for them.

It is interesting how many people don't have a need for the thing as they don't care or already have the carts that want it. I've got about 60% of the games on the thing, but I do have a need, a five year old girl who I'd trust far more using that than my old equipment as she loves stuff like Mario and Kirby.

I hope I can find one this year. If not, it can wait as the crooks who flip denying those in need will have to pry the money from my cold dead fingers before that happens.

I think I can come up with a few reasons why they would want it.

It's an easy way to have portability with a large selection of games, without the hassle of maintenance, cleaning, or even having to look through a physical collection to find the one game you want. Additionally it won't suffer from wear on the pins the way an old NES will, which alleviates another potential headache. Plus maybe they also have kids they're trying to get into the hobby like you are. I'm really not surprised that the demand is so high; I figure I'll likely end up having to wait until next year to pick up one.

See and i'm in the same boat. There's a big junk of those that I own that are on it. There's still a substantial list of those I don't own but last i checked those are cheap I just need to get past my current battles and start working more and I might be able to afford them. Heck there's the virtual console that would be a better option but I honestly would rather own them physically and eventually switch to the retrode2 instead just so I'm not locked to playing at home. This just seems like a weird solution especially considering it's missing a lot of the firsts in series that seem should've been included...

Came home to this bad boy!

P.S. It's true, the controller wire is so short, the console is borderline unusable, depending on your set up. You MUST buy an extension chord. What the hell were Nintendo thinking?

They were as I remember seeing somewhere of wanting people to behave like it was the 80s and sit right in front of the TV. Clearly an excuse for saving money on 4 more ft of cording.

There are some pretty cheap extension cords that have been out there for the wii like jack it uses and Gamestop and a few other chains sell them pretty cheap. I see myself even looking out for that.

.....cool find on that manual, reading it now.

That's still strange though, the nes controllers(which I assume are official though I could be wrong) all use cords that are much longer from what I recall. It trumps every other controller on cord length without having to add in a extension cord. It's just weird that they think people are sitting that close despite the claims that is really bad for eyes and such...
