Re: Hearthstone thread
I haven't spent any money...but Blu did get me $60 worth of gift cards. I used that for Blackrock and Naxxramus...I would have used gold for them eventually. I don't use many of the cards from those sets. I thought I would use Sludge, Patron and Shade of Naxxramus often...but I don't. Rarely use Maexxna, Thalag and Feugen either. The only card I have in more than one deck is Echoing Ooze (in both my Paladin and Priest decks).

Just got my 1,000th win.
Got Amy's attention and said, "Hey, check it out. 1,000 wins."
She says, "and how do you feel about that?"
(implication is...i've put A LOT of time into this game, like, an hour+ daily, which is just not something I do).

Congrats Mike! That's a big deal actually.
I'm still around 250 - 300 wins or so.
Still haven't spend any money.
Still loving this game.

Re: Hearthstone thread
So another expansion is coming...in 3 days. "League of Explorers". On one hand I love that they keep the game fresh and interesting - making sure one deck can't remain dominant forever - on the other hand; to remain competitive; it's getting to the point you really need to spend some money. I'm not opposed to "some money", but $50 and $100 every few weeks for 50 new packs is starting to push it. I'd almost rather see a monthly service fee, $5 or something, and everyone gets all the cards. I think that would be a better business model - but that's just me - they certainly have the run the market data and have come to this conclusion.
I didn't love TGT expansion - seemed too much, the inspire mechanic is cool in theory, but it can quickly turn matches - it doesn't have the strategy or slow build that other cards (and card sets) do. It also had some (imo) broken legendaries for Priest.
In that regard - this new set seems better, though this Golden Monkey map and card are interesting; seems to have a bit of a Vol7tron mechanic of ITTT, but if it gets played - match over.

Re: Hearthstone thread
this is why it was easy for me to take hiatus from Hearthstone when the last expansion happened. It becomes a whole new game to learn. You have to understand new cards and combos. You have to build new decks. So the options become (A) spend the time - and maybe money - required to do that, or (B) don't. Unfortunately all the changes felt like a good excuse for me to play other games.

Re: Hearthstone thread
Yeah - i'm at a decision point. To be competitive - this is pretty much going to be teh ONLY game i'll be able to play and i'll need to spend some money.
Lately i'm a rank 16-17 player, before that I was 12-13. There are so many new inspire and legendaries (that I don't have) that i'm just getting beat by better decks - particularly priests.
Face-Hunter is still pretty solid with a basic deck, and a nice mech-mage can get you to rank 14 or so, but...beyond that you need these legendaries. Chromaggus, Prophet Velen, Justicar...

Re: Hearthstone thread
It turns out the top tier decks don't use any of the Inspire cards that you mentioned (and barely any TGT), so I wouldn't worry too much about that. One major exception is Paladin with Mysterious Challenger. You definitely don't need Chromaggus or Prophet Velen; those are basically never played at the higher levels. Though it would be nice to have for the collection and any future meta changes.
Re: Hearthstone thread
So far I'm liking the current expansion more than TGT. TGT stuff seemed really good on paper, but a lot of it ended up not panning out well. At least for my preferred playstyle.
Now in the very first week of LoE we get a card called Reno Jackson that's actually doing good so far. I've used him in about ten games, all around rank 15, and won like six of them. So at the very least, he's not a terrible card.
For those who don't know yet, Reno Jackson is 6 mana, 4 attack, 6 health. He has a Battlecry that only goes off if you have no duplicate cards in your deck, and the effect is to heal your hero back up to 30. He's extremely good when played correctly.
The obvious downside is that you literally have to build your deck around him, but that hasn't appeared to be a big issue for me. Everyone say's that deck consistency is really important for building a viable deck, so having 2 copies of your better cards is a big upside. And that's true, but I think by now there are enough similar cards, or cards with effects that are "almost as good" as the commonly run cards, that running a deck of 30 unique cards isn't too big of an issue. I imagine it kind of depends on the class though, I've mostly used him in Shaman.
