It may sound strange, but I will buy any Master System game I stumble upon. Every game seems so obscure and unique - I just feel compelled to play them. Contrast that to the NES, where I'm really only interested in collecting the
good games.
I agree with your description of SMS games. They are so strange, and I am intrigued every time I find one.
That said, I am trying to acquire of every game for both systems...If you look at the percentage of a system's library I need to complete my collections, I am closer to finishing up my NES collection. If you look solely at the number of games needed to complete my collections, however, I am much closer to rounding out my SMS collection. (I still need to acquire 96 NES games and 41 SMS games.)

Yes seriously. The Master System is quite amazing in that there are so many unique qualities about the games the console has. Even games that were multiplatform like Double Dragon, California Games, Marble Madness could look completely different than its PC or NES counterpart. Sometimes it's like playing an entirely different game. Combined with some good imitators like Golden Axe Warrior in lieu of Zelda, Wonder Boy III: The Dragon's Trap (Zelda 2), Zillion (Metroid) and Phantasy Star (Final Fantasy / Dragon Warrior), it's a quality console. It wasn't necessarily successful commercially, but it's darn fun to collect and play.

Picked up Star Force and Lightening Force today for $15. A couple old-school shoot-em ups.
I've always wanted Star Force because I've always loved the Star Soldier games, and Star Force is pretty much a very basic prototype for Star Soldier on NES.
And to clarify, no, I didn't misspell "Lightening Force". That's how they spell it. It's only known by that name in the U.S. Everywhere else it's "Thunder Force IV".

My
final latest additions for the month:

I don't usually buy sports games, but I picked both of these up at the local book sale this month. It was $3 a bag day and I found these hiding in a box. They were both complete, so I shoved 'em in my bag to fill it up.

Radiant Historia just came in the mail yesterday. Huzza!
Oh, and I found this sweet little Game Gear bag at the thrift store.

So boring. I couldn't get through it. It's a bunch of political and espionage mumbo-jumbo with a fantasy background. It's a shame, too, because I did like the grid battle-system.

Radiant Historia takes like 4 hours to get good. But once it gets good it gets damn good.

Damn you, Kmart and your newly clearanced games. You made a liar out of me

I went in today after my Radio Shack run and found that they'd cleaned out the bottom shelves of 360 and PS3 games back in the electronic section. So I made my way to the front of the store where their dump/clearance bin is and lo, they'd filled up the previously empty display with goodies. Everything had been placed into those box plastic security containers and was under $20, except for their 3 copies of Valkyria Chronicles 2, which were still priced at $29.99
In case you can't read those:
Splatterhouse $9.97
House of the Dead Overkill: Extended Cut $9.97
Vanquish $1.99
I'm not going anywhere tomorrow, so these are definitely the last ones for March.
