Nice write-up. And for sure be proud of that score - very solid. This game may be above all other games in regard to most combined drained hours from shmup fans. I'm personally a bit maxed right now, but I agree, one that I plan to revisit again and again.

yeah I'm burned out right now too, but I could probably come back to it next month and be thrilled.mjmjr25 wrote:Nice write-up. And for sure be proud of that score - very solid. Nice post on Streetfighter!noiseredux wrote:and now a little something about 3rd Strike.
I just updated the Dreamcast Mouse Thread teasing about that adapter you posted, a possible Trakball solution for your Dreamcast Centipede. Do you have any Total Control adapters? A PS2 controller adapter opens up all kinds of Arcade sticks for some of the games you are reviewing.

Re: noiseredux vs. Sega
I do have a Total Control adapter, but the only thing I've used it for is a PS2 dance mat for Feet of Fury since I don't have an official DC dance mat. But I already own the DC Agetec stick which is one of my favorite arcade sticks, and the Ascii fight pad, which is one of my favorite fight pads. I also own official DC mouse and keyboards.
I also found out about this DC stick by MadCatz which has a trackball:

No idea if it works for Centipede or not, but if I ever found one cheap I'd look into it. I'm not a big enough Centipede fan to actively hunt it out though.

I have that Madcatz controller, both the PC and Dreamcast models. No luck on the Trakball though, it does not emulate a regular Mouse. The silly thing needs special drivers to make the ball work as an analog controller. The stick does add realism in Flight Sims and very enjoyable in driving the tank in Wild Metal.noiseredux wrote:I do have a Total Control adapter, but the only thing I've used it for is a PS2 dance mat for Feet of Fury since I don't have an official DC dance mat. I'll test Dreamcast Centipede later with the PS/2 adapter as well as the Madcatz Flightstick Trakball combo. I'll post back in the Dreamcast Mouse Thread if I get either to work.

Re: noiseredux vs. Sega
Oh snap! how did I miss this review post!? I loves me some 3rd Strike. Even more so when its played on a Dreamcast
Re: noiseredux vs. Sega
3rd Strike is easily my favorite fighting game on the Dreamcast, followed by Jojo. (Something about those CPS3 games, I guess.) GG XX Accent is probably the only fighter I enjoy more, and probably only because I'm actually almost halfway decent at it.
3rd Strike is just so silky smooth; excellent depth; 2d sprites ty vry much. Not nearly enough respect for the game. I think you might have copped out a little, noise. It's okay to say it: MM > OoT; 3rd Strike > SF II anything. Just because most people don't want to hear it doesn't make it less true.
