Updated firmware for aspect issues also? Says that on Amazon. Interesting.

I still have mine. I paid the higher price, but that's no one's fault but my own. I'm bummed that it doesn't have the support it was supposed to, but if the firmware comes out and fixes some of the stuff, I'm just gonna buy one of those SD card adapters that's been modded to make it work with all the games and do that.

I still like playing it from time to time, so it's not a huge deal for me.

$80? When I have most of those on MVS format?

Is the updated firmware only coming with a purchase of a game pack? Because if so, that's some bullshit right there.

those cards seem really disappointing to me. They're basically just little compilations of ROM's and they're expensive. Personally, I think this console got botched. Had it been $100 at launch, and you could buy each game on a physical card for $10, $15, $20 even with nice repro art it would have been brilliant. Especially if they were rolling out recent arcade stuff. But man, like I said from the beginning this just feels to me like a really overpriced and superfluous console when there's SNK compilations galore on PS2 and Wii and PSP... and worse - the NG games that have been brought to PS3 are in HDMI and have online co-op!! The fact that you could just buy the NGX arcade stick for $50 and use it on your PS3 to play the same games w/ added online... ugh, this was just a really bad missed opportunity.

Well the "mega pack" is basically the five $25 cards combined, so you are technically saving money if you buy it... Still, $25 is too much for one of those 3-game cards. $10 would have been acceptable. I may buy the card with Blue's Journey on it and then call it a day.

Yeah I am disappointed in the price as well. I was expecting closer to $15 for the 3 game pack cards. What they seem to be doing is basing the price off what they charge on the virtual console side. As said earlier, they have already spoiled us with the compilation PS2 discs. I might buy one just for the update and the charging cable, otherwise I will keep an eye on the complete pack and wait for the price to drop significantly.

I was able to snag the Mega Pack off of Amazon for about $50. It was described as "good" on the Amazon Warehouse deals, however I received it yesterday and it was almost brand new. For that price I am satisfied. The case is really neat, so is the manual and stickers. I used the included rocket cable to update my system without any issues. I've been playing the games with the new firmware and I have to say the game sound has improved a lot with the firmware update. I am satisfied with the purchase at a lower price.

So this firmware, is it only available via purchasing the game packs? And isn't the "rocket cable" just a microUSB cable?

I believe so, Gamesack was giving out about it a little while ago.
