fine with me. I'll start it on Normal on the 1st.dsheinem wrote: Well...we recently had a discussion that you were part of in the "Games Beaten" thread about whether "easy" is really the "deafult experience" if it is auto selected on the first menu just because it is at the top of the list. I tend to think of "normal" as the default experience, and one in which they wouldn't have taken anything out/dumbed anything down.

Re: 2012 Together Retro Calendar
Ys I is very short. I think I've finished it in under five hours.
I have the PSP and DS ports of Ys Book I & II.
Turbo CD version is on the way, which is what I'm gonna play. I actually have the Sega Master System port here right now, but I'm exchanging it for that Turbo CD version (Amazon seller messed up my order the first time!).
Emulation folks: there's actually an American DOS version! I wouldn't recommend it though unless you really want to challenge yourself.
I won't be able to start until some time next week, you guyz are all gonna be done or way ahead of me.

Re: 2012 Together Retro Calendar
That PSP version is nice because it has a walkthrough.... well, just for YS I. Ys II can be a nightmare without one, just a fair warning.
Re: 2012 Together Retro Calendar
I think I'll go with the updated visual/cut scenes and Normal difficulty (recommended). On Nightmare in Ys 7 Ive only made it up to the 2nd or 3rd boss with numerous attemps within several months,so that probably would be smart with a month timeline.
But I cant explain how fun Ys 7 is on Nightmare,The boss Im up to now is Nearly Bullet Hell seriously

If you can see the future while remembering the past, you may just have control of the present.
Re: 2012 Together Retro Calendar
Next month is just Ys I right? Not Ys I & II?

Yes just Ys I in particular but we wont segregate, leaves it open to those who cant get a particular version but can still participate and discuss the lore of Ys.ExedExes wrote:Next month is just Ys I right? Not Ys I & II?
For Treasure month Im also playing the Gba versions of Gunstar and Guardian Heroes (not sure if they are Treasure made?)
And for Alien Crush/Devils Crush I may toss in Pinball of the dead(close enough to warrant a play w/these).

Re: 2012 Together Retro Calendar
They are Treasure, yes. Which was odd since Treasure was so against sequels. But that's what's strange about those two games. They're not really sequels, but not really remakes. Gunstar Advance is good. Advance Guardian Heroes on the other hand... not so much.TEKTORO wrote:For Treasure month Im also playing the Gba versions of Gunstar and Guardian Heroes (not sure if they are Treasure made?)

Re: 2012 Together Retro Calendar
I'm all set and ready to go for next month too! Picked up Ys: The Vanished Omens on Master System. The only month I still need to get prepared for is October now.
