First off the level is this enormous, diagonal/vertical tower, and the the song just completely empowers you to push through and climb to victory ... "This is it, you've come this far, go forth to the final battle... keep going!" Hell yes.

As for my favorites:
[insert Megaman 1-6, X-X3 here]

What are your guys' thoughts on the X3 PSX/PC OST though? I personally can't stand it. I don't think X3's SNES OST is quite as good as the first two games, but I still love the dark, metal vibe the SNES hardware gives off, and the PSX/PC version just sounds like a horribly awkward fan arrangement to me. lol, kind of like my hate for The Wily Wars... my Protoman nostalgia shades are probably just too strong for me to accept stuff beyond the originals in a lot of cases with Megaman.

Also I hope you guys have heard the classic OC Remix "Brainsick Metal", a medley for X. Probably the greatest thing to ever come out of OC Remix. The Spark Mandrill part gives me chills.
What I also like about Palace Grounds is that it feels like a dual X/Zero theme to me as this the first time in the game they are both in the same place. They are both assaulting Sigma's HQ with Zero leading the charge

I personally hate the MM X 3 remix they used in all the cd versions of the game. I love the original SNES tunes, particularly Zero's theme. It would have been interesting to hear what kind of remixes they would have done if we ever got a Maverick Hunter X 3.

Those guys at OC ReMix are awesome. I still love their heroes vs villains album with the bad dudes

Yeah, Sigma stage 1 in X is all around one of the most epic levels in the franchise. Everything with Zero, then your encounter with Vile again who you could touch in the beginning, and then it's not even over. Great stuff. Vile looked so badass in X3 though, but man I hated his green color scheme in X8. Yuck!

Also, I always seem to forget that if you don't get the normal buster armor upgrade in X, the one you get from Zero is technically even stronger, lol. But I usually have all the armor when I head off to the end.

Also, it goes without saying... Sigma from 1973.

(I should get a good snapshot of the insignia for his army, you can see it on his forehead. Haha...)

The last X game I played was X4. It was one of the first PSX games I had. I had a lot of fun with that game.

I also can't stand the X3 remixes. Why they went for the synth trumpet sound is beyond me when on the SNES it sounds like they're trying to go for the electric guitar sound. As for favorite X3 songs I'd go with Blizzard Buffalo's song, it just sounds so...wintry.

I think Blizzard Man's theme did a really good job at that as well, from MM6:

They need to remake/demake/...remix? Megaman V (GB) NES style, oh man that'd be awesome. Finished that one up this morning, that was awesome stuff. Graphics were great, loved all the robot designs, really awesome music, and it definitely got challenging towards the end. All the space stuff was pretty cool and fresh for an original Megaman game.

Phew, I need a breather here but I still think I'm ready to marathon the X series again or something soon, heh.

Bumping due to lack of Megaman discussion. Aren't we supposed to have intelligent robots by now? Not reploids, but still Protoman levels of intelligence. MM1 took place in 200x, which means between 2000 and 2009...

You're talking about a system who had games that described that END DAY would occur October 1, 1997.

Also, didn't know "Sigma Fortress 1" was entitled "Palace Grounds" ... a YouTube result was pretty nice to hear.

The end day did occur. We just got better.
