Ahh, thanks for the explanation.

Doesn't Super Mario 64 DS use a similar control scheme if you are using the D-pad? I remember trying it where I would put my thumb on the B button and use the side of my thumb to press A for jump. I was able to use it ok.

I didn't care for the D-pad control so I went back to using the Stylus.

Actually, it used Y for run, B for jump and A to attack. Having to hit A to attack was very awkward, but the run and jump buttons were in the ideal place as far as my preferences go - the place i'd like them to be in mario land on VC aswell.

I would suggest that you give Nintendo your feedback on the controls. Since it's eShop, they could always publish an updated version that gives you the controls flexibility.

So what are the best games for the 3ds out right now? Apart from Street Fighter and the Ghost Recon skinned Xcom.

One of my sales reps said he is buying me a 3ds and Oot on Monday, but ofcourse I know I will want something else aswell. Do all DSiware games work on the 3ds - looking at Dr Mario and Bomberman in particular?

DSIware games are missing in action at the moment. From what I understand, Nintendo is testing each DSiware game for compatability with the 3DS prior to putting it in the 3DS store. At the moment, there are like 5 titles up there.

As for good games, I vouch for Dead Or Alive Dimensions, and Pilotwings.

I am wary to pickup Pilotwings since I think it will be short lived, and everyone I know who has a 3ds has a copy of it.

If you don't already have it, get Shantae: Risky's Revenge. One of the best two games (between it and Cave Story) on DSiWare.
Gaming accomplishments:
Nibbler (marathon): 251,169,160 / Nibbler (one life): 5,263,360 (WR)
Donkey Kong: 423,100 [L12-1] (150th place as of 2019-01-15)
Super Smash Bros. (N64): Ranked top 5 in Wisconsin from Q1 2016 to Q2 2017
Shrek SuperSlam: won largest tournament in game's history (Shrekfest 2018)

One Piece Unlimited Cruise SP, if you are a One Piece fan. Honestly, there isn't much on the 3DS yet. Pilotwings is fun and I'm sure Zelda will be fantastic but it isn't new. Same with Star Fox.

If you do get a 3DS, download the 3D trailers from the eshop. Lots of cool games coming out in the future, like Mario Kart, Shin Hikari Shinwa and the Super Mario game.

The 3DS really is cool but it definitely had a slow start.

Just scanned the 3DS online store, they have:

Bomberman Blitz
Dr. Mario Express
Cave Story

I know Cave Story 3DS is on the way, so I'd wait for that.

There's loads of good DSiWare out there, but if you're looking for retail games, I'd highly recommend Dead or Alive Dimensions.

I also got Ocarina 3D today. It's very pretty, and a really faithful remake. I kinda wish it was a little less faithful though, I've played the original so many times as is! Still, happy with my purchase.
