Wow, the Egyptian protests may be some of the largest in history. Estimates range as high as 17 million people.

Not sure. Hufpo or cnn.com might have it.

Tanks are on the way from what has been reported.

CNN articles make it sound like a coup has been launched.

Cairo? Was that one of the places in Lawrence of Arabia? That's an old movie, no one's seen that anymore.

Nah, I think it's that place from ISHTAR and also where Luke Skyrunner lived.

The coup is apparently already over. Morsi is out. Gen. Abdel Fatah Said Al-Sisi has announced that the Egyptian Constitution is suspended and there will be early elections. The military has installed the head of the Egyptian courts system as interim leader while elections occur. The Egyptian Parliament is likely also being dissolved, and there will be restritioncs on press freedom via some kond of "code of ethics."

Yep it is a coup , almost at day 1 of protests the army gave the president 48 hours to answer to the people or be out by force. Any way everything seems to have been organized for months now. 10 of the ministers that were picked by Morsi himself resigned before the coup . It is all well planned. In a country where eating meatis a luxury , it takes a lot to resign from your minister post.

Any way , something like 5 local TV stations that support president Morsi have been shutdown and so was Al Jazeera's studio. Also some 300 people have been arrested , also members of Morsi's political party , the Muslims Brotherhood , had been arrested.

If it wasn't a coup , you wouldn't have a problem with the political party just the president himself. Its one thing to not approve of president Bush, another thing to arrest the Republicans .

I just want to add that during Morsi's reign , he never shut down any TV stations that were extremely against him and in my own opinion contributed to the coup.
