Personally, I don't see anything on the horizon for PS4 that's even close to as interesting to what's already on the Wii U plus the upcoming Wii U games.

I guess we define "interesting" differently. I want my new consoles to push new experiences, new IPs, new graphics, and take new approaches to all aspects of games. That's what I find to be interesting. Nintendo's IPs for the past ~10 years or more haven't really done that, while Sony's have. Sony's announced a number of upcoming games that I find to be more "interesting" than any Wii U Nintendo IP (e.g. Everybody's Gone to the Rapture, The Order 1886, etc.) and they have a much more robust stable of ndie devs (read: potential for interesting games) than Nntendo by far.

The Xbox One I am only getting because I don't have to pay for it...but it, too, offers what I find to be a series of more interesting hardware innovations than the Wii U.

Says the guy who loves Call of Duty. I'll take great gameplay over something "new" but stinks any day of the week.

I like Mario games too and wouldn 't play retro systems if I didn't value "comfort games." That doesn't mean that COD or Mario are especially "interesting" franchises anymore.

Erm...what about something that is new that has great gameplay?

And who says CoD doesn't have great gameplay? I haven't played one since the original Modern Warfare, but I remember it being a lot of fun.

Some of us just aren't as obsessed with Nintendo IPs. Some of us love them. Makes a huge difference in deciding whether a Wii U is worth it. On the other hand, the 3DS has plenty to offer even if you don't care about 1st party games from them.

Wow. I'm still unable to link a NNID.

Yesterday I managed to make an ID but failed to connect to their server. I know my ID is functional because I was able to log into Miiverse from my computer (but it logged me out because my ID wasn't tied to a system).

Kind of a bad first impression! I'm still able to play retail games; however it took three or four tries to access the patch for ZombiU. I'd hate to have an online game or an eshop card ready to spend.

Yeah I guess they've been overloaded. I woke up kind of early and thought to myself "Maybe all those damned kids are still asleep so I can access the server for 45 seconds." Nope, still unable to connect.

It's really no huge deal, but Miiverse and the virtual console titles are some of the defining features of the system. Not having access to them is a bit of a bummer.

Oh well.

Nintendo also unwisely released "Pokebank" yesterday. They have since pulled it, but undoubtedly, millions of Pokemon players trying to download that didn't help the problem.

I'm debating dropping my holiday gift cards on the Best Buy deal (WiiU deluxe w/Mario & Lugi + Zombie U)... but then I won't have any money/credit for games.
I think the price may drop soon... I dont know.
If I would get one and could only get one or two games cheap - which ones should I get?
