A point that a lot of people forget, Nintendo makes money. They had a few quarters that weren't profitable but they have returned to profitability. Keep in mind that the weak yen right now is also advantageous to them as most of their sales are overseas.Snatch1414 wrote:I don't think selling 50 million units of a $200 item worldwide is "struggling". You'll be in business a long time if you can pull that off, unless your margins are unrealistically small. I can't believe the R&D and parts add up to the 3DS being one of those consoles that (supposedly) sells the systems at a loss and make the money up with software. Plus, the Wii exploded because of it's gimmicky set up (not that it was bad but that's why) and the DS is what? Like 12 years old??

Yes Nintendo makes money, and of course most of the time I buy Nintendo consoles for Nintendo games, but the huge success of the DS, GB, and even GBA helped to get some killer 3rd party games on those consoles. If the 3DS had come out of the gate stronger we might have gotten Megaman Legends 3. That's all I'm thinking.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
I never saw the appeal of Mega Man Legends/Mega Man 64.
I remember renting Mega Man Legends back when it was new on the PS1.
Now i came from Playing Mega Man X and other 2D platforming Mega Man games, so going from that awesome epic shit, to fully 3D Mega Man was really weird, and to me Mega Man doesnt belong in fully 3D.
But i felt Mega Man Legends to have a really empty world, bland gameplay, and it just wasnt appealing to me at all.
So whenever i hear about Mega Man Legends 3, i just think wow they actually made a Legends 2?

I liked MM64 a lot, didn't like Legends as much because 64 corrected/improved the areas, camera and control a bit. MML2 I did buy because of the original on PS1 and I really disliked it a lot, was a downhill slide, so to be fair I'm not all that hurt over the third one getting canned. I was offended though how they lead so many of their strongest fans along with a design contest and the rest to then throw everyone under the bus and play the silent treatment and denial game since.

Re: Nintendo 3DS
wow the dislike for megaman legends is astounding! Sure it is a vast departure from what people understood as Megaman, but that is okay since the games themselves were excellent! The world itself was so interesting and the mechanics and depth were spectacular. The second game in the series only improved in all areas as you progressed through the storyline.
There was a third in the world as well, which was the Misadventures of Tronn Bonne, which was a lot more action oriented.
I say revisit the game and look at it as its own game outside of what you consider Megaman. Much like with the Battle Network series, the game is going in a vastly different direction to provide something new and unique and to me, it succeeded.

I never looked at it as an evil game lesser than the 2D stuff. I truly enjoyed and played through Mega Man 64 2 or 3 times over. I just disliked the sequel a lot. Maybe the control/camera differences on the N64 spoiled me some against it and I really don't remember anymore at this rate.
