Oh wow, I have to say I loved that film, I thought the soundtrack was great mainly though which spurred me on through the film.

Just keep in mind that that soundtrack can only be played with 12 fingers. :D

And I just finished watching Lord of War. Nicholas Cage plays an international illegal arms dealer through the last twenty or so years. Some great points, about violence, people, firearms, and making money. I also love some of the shots they used, such as Cage standing on a battlefield littered with thousands of shells, and the ending message of the film: first, arms dealers will always be necessary, and two, the biggest arms dealers in the world all sit on the U.N Security Council.

Most recently went to the cinema to see Changeling, dir. Clint Eastwood. I appreciate, if not necessarily laud, Eastwood's no-nonsense visual approach to subject matter, allowing the events to speak for themselves. What did speak for itself was Jolie's incredible acting, which reminded me of the reason why she became famous in the first place: a shit-tonne of talent. Go see for a heart-aching performance.

Right now I'm watching over and over Lurhmann's Romeo+Juliet for an essay on the issues of film adaptation. I love this film, despite not thinking the original play one of Shakespeare's best (its cultural importance, however, is undeniable, so I respect it in that light). Mercutio's death sequence is a masterpiece in directing, acting as an impossibly effective hinge that changes the tone of the film instantly from romantic comedy to epic tragedy. Much of that is probably due to McAlpine, the cinematographer.

Star Wars HD -

Episode 1, 2, 3, 4 and 5

its mad in HD - you can actually see that the base of Lord Vader's mask in A New Hope is painted :o (its shiny plastic in Empire Strikes Back though)

Well it's Brian De Palma week for me. Carlito's Way and the Untouchables are both fantastic and the train station shootout scene was breathtaking. Next up is Scarface but I think the film garnered too much hype over the years so I'm not expecting greatness.

Well, you BETTER not forget Sisters or Phantom of the Paradise.

Priority ONE:

Priority TWO:

Paradise is priority ONE cuz you can't call yourself a DePalma fan if you don't see it. Sisters is good, but as an adamant PotP fan, I have to say the former.

And as for his version of Carrie, I declare "hit or miss".

Oh... and a little while ago:

But only on DVD. Oh, I'm a failure cuz I haven't got an HDTV or Blu-Ray. But then again, Blu-Ray rentals at Village Video won't be available until next year. And even then, it'll be FAR smaller a selection than when they started DVD rentals (they started out with only about 10-20 titles).
