The proper way to handle this cock-up would be for Walmart to offer all the cancellations first dibs when they are ready...however that likely won't happen as the number of pre-orders probably way exceed what they will ever have in stock.

In other news, very.co.uk sent me what is now their fourth email telling me "your order is right on track" for deliver on the 29th Sept.

If they cancel after this many "don't worry everything is fine" emails then gaskets will well and truly be blown.

I'm not even one of those people and I agree fully. I don't see it happening either though for the reason stated.

I'm surprised it lasted that long, but more so they allowed people to buy 2 per person. That just makes it twice as easy for a scalper which perhaps had a lot of them anyway. I find it hard to feel bad over pre-orders, I've never liked them going back to the 90s when they started to take off. Just get in line, get one, then the next. Now you're basically forced to do it or perhaps wait a long time if ever to get something. It's so bad you even need a preorder (appointment) to get a haircut these days in many places which is just sad.

I do as well, but I think given the abuses now perpetrated around jerks abusing pre-sells to keep stuff out of peoples hands to scalp it for profit it's a price worth paying. If you want it bad enough not to overpay, show up. I don't like it, but don't see an out since people won't police their shit from manipulators.

Does anyone think that if (when) a virtual console hits the Switch, it'll launch with the NES and SNES games from these plug-n-plays? I mean, if Nintendo just went through the ordeal of licensing the third party stuff, it would seem like a good time for two birds with stone, yeah?

I haven't "shown up" to a real life shop in like 7 years. I don't even know if I can remember how to do that.

I wonder if Nintendo has ever given any thought as to how many Switches it would sell if it came with a Virtual Console with this many (or more) games offered as free-to-play from the get-go.

Instead of incrementally monetizing it's back catalogue for small change I have to wonder if Nintendo couldn't immediately dominate the console market if it simply made a true "Nintendo-Box" with a huge built in library of its classic software.

A price for the convenience. The market takes advantage of this; multiply the finance interest in collecting money up front weeks or even months before the consumer gets the product, a huge profit increase. Meh, up to individuals willing to pay up front vs waiting in line. For me, unless a very rare must have, I will not preorder and have not done yet. Well, most games I buy used a generation or two later anyways.

Now in the case of the limited Nintendo PlugNPlay console, we are stuck to preorder or pay the scalpers prices later. WAKE UP NINTENDO, increase the stock this go around!
