IMO the very first Far Cry is half awesome and half terrible. The first half of the game is spent on tropical isles fighting pirates and it's a great time. The second half of the game introduces mutant monsters and darkens up the locales, and honestly it all stops being fun after that. At least, IMO. Far Cry didn't really get good until Ubisoft bought the franchise. However, the first Far Cry is a historically significant release, and is worth playing at least until you see your first Trigen.

No, this is the general consensus of Far Cry's experience. You're in the right, Exhum. The mutants really do just muck things up.

As an experiment, I want each of you guys to recommend me ONE game (that's one game from each of you only) that fits this criteria:

1. Classic/Cult-Classic
2. Was released on PC/DOS
3. Can be beaten in 6 hours or less

...I'm just curious what y'all would come up with. Don't forget that many console games got DOS ports or have been brought to Steam or whatever over the years. Though the tricky part may be that you don't really know what I've already beaten/played a lot of. But eh, let's see what happens.

For a first time player, I don't see someone beating Darkseed in under six hours. I guess if you're playing with a walkthrough that's doable. It's a cool game though, 'specially if you dig Giger.

I figure, but it technically fits the bill. HLTB lists it as an hour and a half. Plus I like keeping noise on his toes.
