Devilish (Bad Omen) is easily one of the most impressive Genesis soundtracks I've stumbled upon recently. Composed by Hitoshi Sakimoto and his crazy custom chip (I think), go figure it's amazing! He also did Gauntlet 4.

No custom chips, but I wouldn't be surprised if he put a lot of work into a custom sound driver.

Yes, custom sound driver. I've been listening to a lot of his songs this month too.
