Now that you've said this it is all I can picture. As far as I'm concerned it was the turtle van. Which means Luke cussed out the turtles.

Not cool Luke.

Key-Glyph wrote:Oh, and dude, CFFJR... that's one hell of an accident. I hope you heal up well and quickly, and really do admire that your typing remains impeccable despite the splint. There's no danger that you've lost mobility or anything, is there?

Thank you Key, I hope so too. :)

As far as the injury itself goes, no, mobility won't be an issue. I didn't sever any vital bits, so it should be fine.

Apparently there's always a risk of infection which can lead to mobility issues among other things, but they gave me an antibiotic to take (4 times daily, seems they take it seriously) so let's hope that doesn't happen.

Make sure you take your pills (or liquid, or whatever.) Does your cell phone have an alarm function? Cause I'd be setting it to go off along with reminders like "Did you take the antibiotic? You should take the antibiotic. You don't want to loose your trigger finger, that would piss you off."

Good luck.

I really messed myself up today. Short story short, a 230 pound crate was dropped on my finger. We were moving it off a dock and into a van, and it slipped down and smashed me on the way.

So my finger is broken. I had to get 5 stitches to close it up because it was pounded flat and sliced open (the "meat" was exposed and coming out of the side, very attractive). The nail was destroyed and may or may not grow back, and the nailbed was cut open as well, so some of the stitches come up through where my nail used to be, which was freaking weird to look at. Got a tetanus shot too, and I'm wearing a splint, which makes it hard to type.

I've had worse Fridays!

Could have been a lot worse actually. It hurts and all, but it didn't get pulverized.

After all, its my clicking/shooting finger. I need that!

I feel you on this. Right out of school I was building trusses full time, we basically hauled wood and swung a hammer all day. Anyway, this is the hammer:

http://www.sears.com/estwing-28-oz-fram ... Redirect=y

It has a nice waffle head on it when it is inside the first week or two worth of use. While hammering the trusses together so they could be loaded on the truck, I nailed my thumb full force with the hammer (fresh waffle head, since it was my second day). Now, I'm sure this is no 230 pound crate, but I smashed my thumb really nicely. Blood shot from all sides, "meat" was out, nail was gone, bone was broken, thumbnail was gone. My boss had me finish the day before I could go get it fixed up.

I don't really know what the point is, I guess just to say I know your seething, burning, aching, throbbing, nauseating pain. I sympathize man.

Good old waffle headed framing hammers. Zombie killing weapon of choice man.

*Not to be used on fingers though.

:x I wish there were comic sites, or at least sections of some comic sites, that could be dedicated to non-superhero stuff. Seriously, I read Batman... and pretty much nothing else superhero. And I hate Marvel with unbridled passion* so, that leaves a lot to be desired on most sites, where that's a big deal. Also can't find anything good for pulp fiction books, or old school sci-fi/fantasy ala Weird fantasy style. Why no sword and sorcery fool?

*Partially due to how convoluted their stuff gets, partially due to my dislike of so many of their characters, and also due to the fact it is the big thing right now. I guess I'll grab my flannel for that last one, but now that Marvel is the big thing thanks to the movies I'm reaaaally tired of hearing anything related to it.

Thanks Michi! Good idea with the cell phone alarm. I have to take the bottle around with me the next couple of days too, so using the alarm will help while I'm out and about.

Yeeesh...

Thanks jp. Yeah, story like that, you definitely know what it feels like!

Screw your old boss for making you stay though.

I do indeed, at least a little. That boss was a strange bird, he bought us all lunch every Friday, and was actually quite nice in a lot of ways. However, production numbers were all he cared about, he had me wrap my thumb in a rag with some tape for about two and a half hours. Another guy smashed a pronged truss plate on top of three of his fingers, he had to work half a day with them bandaged. Finally, my son got a fever of 103 when he was six months old. He tried to make me stay, but that was the day I quit.

Don't ask me how in the hell that guy managed to smash this over his fingers:

I know it looked like it hurt like hell though.

EDIT: He also had this weird thing about bathroom breaks within an hour of lunch time. He fired a guy on the spot for taking a piss five minutes after lunch. I shit you not, at least not within a two hour window of lunch. I kid, but it's a true story.

Ticked. My would-be roomies have flaked out on me. We had planned on moving into a big beautiful house in the middle of town and splitting the rent four ways. My girl and I were planning on living downstairs and our friends were planning on living upstairs. Now that's a no go. Shoot. So much for the best laid plans of mice and men. Now I'm basically starting over in my house hunting plans.

I guess it's better for them to flake out on me now rather than after we move in.
