Smile: Went car shopping today!
Frown: I forgot that car salesmen are kind of obnoxious. It's not my first rodeo so I'm definitely not getting talked into anything - but this guy was just weird. He wasn't suave at all. He actually seemed kinda desperate. Sad.

Maybe now Nintendo will acknowledge Metroid has a fanbase?

With the economy the way it is, that's not surprising. A car dealership near me is desperate enough that all cars they sell come with a lifetime guarantee.Flake wrote:Smile: Went car shopping today!

I recall hearing in the news a few years ago that a Belgian car dealership was having a buy-1-get-1 free sale, on new cars. Now that's desperate.

Re: What Made you Smile/What Ticked you off Today?
I know exactly what you mean. On my last car shopping day in January I went and looked at the Saabaru first and was pretty much set on it. I forced myself to continue the day looking as planned to make sure I didn't jump with a little thinking. The salesman that helped me at the Honda dealership was nice and not pushy, but also kinda sad like he was on thin ice for not selling enough cars or something. I kinda felt bad like I was leading him on by looking and taking a test drive when I was still sure I was getting the Saabaru.Flake wrote:Smile: Went car shopping today!

Smile: All the money I've saved (and made on the racket b/s/t
) is finally materializing in front of my eyes.
Frown: Not a new car, not a new kitchen, not even 20 candy cabs...
...this. Its a mound septic system, which essentially is a $2,000 tank/pipe system and $17K and 90' run of dirt / sand / gravel (and the trucks and manpower to move it). It is going on the tree line so it blends w/the property, in the meantime they build a road w/said dirt as they haul it in (w/out the temporary road, these 12 ton trucks would sink in the yard and not only get stuck, but hit the underground electric cables).

Smile: Nothing
Ticked: I've got to vent a little. My mental state is all screwed up. Every once in a while I get days like these where my minds just bouncing off the walls. I've cried 3 times today for whatever fucking reason, I yelled at the serving lady at Panda Express because she forgot to put a fork in the bag (even though I could have easily just used my own fork at home). And basically today I've been lying in my bed with my netbook wasting time. I get brief moments of sanity then I go back to obsessing over whatever my mind is on about.
Back to bed and netflix.

That does not sound good at all. Maybe you should do like me. Read a book on meditation, and give it a try afterwards...RyaNtheSlayA wrote:Smile: Nothing

Meanwhile, your Panda comment made me think of this...

Seriously, that guy last night was out of his mind. He wanted me to take a test drive...as the most magnificent lightning storm I have ever seen rolled into town like a living wall of blackness. I kinda yelled at him (in front of his staff) and asked him how that was a good idea. What were we going to test? The safety features?
But...
Smile: I bought a truck! Found THE exact truck I wanted just 30 minutes north of here. Drove up, checked it out, argued the guy down a little bit (essentially got them to take care of the taxes and fees) and came on home. I got it for about $3500 less than the 'fair price' for this area according to Kelly Bluebook, so I'm feeling pretty good about myself right now.
Frown: Oh yeah. I haven't had a car payment in 5 years. Well, it was a nice 5 years!

Yeah not good, but he was thinking heavily towards the fact that if you left without buying, there was a slim to none chance you would be back to look again later.Flake wrote:Seriously, that guy last night was out of his mind. So why did you get a new system? Did the old one fail?mjmjr25 wrote: Frown: Not a new car, not a new kitchen, not even 20 candy cabs...

Yeah, depending on the design, an average septic system in Mass go for around $20-$25K. In New Hampshire, my brother-in-law just put a new system in for under $5K. Not sure why it's so expensive in Mass.
