Hey welcome to the forums! I totally understand how it is easy to miss the forums in the community and very glad that you finally decided to join our ranks! Fear not! Age means nothing to us and there is a wide variety of people from a huge array of ages and locations! The More the Merrier!

I myself am an inherited gamer, with the vast swathes of my collection being inherited from my two older brothers. Even though they are older, I was always old enough to go toe-to-toe with them in video games and it annoyed them to no end!

So you are big into RPGS? Any particular ones you really enjoy? Do you mostly do JRPG or have you had any interest in Western developers? I was an old PC gamer in the late 80's to mid 90's and fell in love with a lot of the Western RPGs on the platform. If ever you are interested in getting into that style of game, let me know and I can bombard you with a bevy of delightful titles! What good JRPGs have you played that really stood out for you in terms of story.

Also, speaking of story, are there certain story elements that are common in games that you enjoy? I have always found a love for games that use characters to tug on emotions that you can connect with. I love flawed characters that are used to effectively push stories along. Most times, games have these invincible heroes and I never connect to them as much as a reluctant hero or a good natured person. Recently finishing Grandia on the PSX, I always look to the character, Sue as a great example of a good natured character that you really relate to and her story arc is so sweet!

I am a big fan of strategy games, but almost exclusively turn based strategy games. I don't have the focus and multi-tasking abilities to handle most RTS games. Personal favorites are the Shining Force Series, Civilization and Warlords series on PC.

Welcome aboard and fear not, your, "Character Flaw," is one I am most proud of. I have a love for a wide variety of games that many find to be unloved. One of my favorite genre of games are FMV games from the 90's like Night Trap, Double Switch, Wirehead, Corpse Killer etc. There is just something about that that I find incredibly cheesy yet charming. What games have you liked that a lot of people look down on?

As for a love for music! Bravo! I am a huge music fan and apply my love for all variety of games to music as well. If you are into video game music, I highly recommend a podcast that one of our beloved members, Key-Glyph, has that can be found here. They take requests and talk about what makes the music so appealing from the games of yore.

Anywho, never fret about rambling, we always encourage it. Seriously read this post I am typing now for instance! Hope to see more of you on the forums and enjoy!

Currently I'm mostly catching up on the previous gen but I sure have a retro heart and like to play the old classics I never had the chance to own as a kid (and there are just so many...).
I used to collect games (SFC, Saturn) but I sold quiet everything since I was no longer enjoying that.
I still tend to own physical copies of what I'm playing though.

It is a pleasure to have you visiting the site! Don't worry about the grammar, we have a few non-native English speakers around here. It is a shame to hear about you selling your Saturn collection. I love the system and find it to be my all time favorite. There are is so much quality stuff, although it can be very expensive for people. What are some of the systems that you are visiting that you missed out on?

One system that I have focused on more recently is the original NES. I never had the opportunity to play it as a kid, because people said I would break it, even though I owned and used a PC very regularly. I got a hefty collection from a yard sale with about 30 games for under $10 some 15 years ago and have been systematically trying to tackle the classics like the Castlevania games.

Hi ! Actually that's short for "Yamcha" the dumb DBZ character (and I'm not even a fan of this anime, don't ask me why I thought of this ^^).

Currently I'm a lot into the Mega Drive/Genesis library and most particularly with the Wonder Boy series. Speaking of which, I must say I'm not quite fond of the remake's graphics and musics. But we'll see !
Sadly, I cannot play any of these on the original console since my retro-gaming setup is still in progress, so I have to stick with emulation for now.

I love Genesis/MD games. Make sure to try all the Disney titles. My favorites are Jungle Book, Aladdin, and Castle of Illusion. There are tons of great Disney games on Genesis.

By the way, I take it "the old continent" means Europe not Asia, right?

Hello everybody! My name is Taylor Windham and I live in Kansas City, MO. Aside from gaming I enjoy playing music, bootlegging out-of-print horror movies (direct to video, of course!) and reading.

I'm currently playing Earthbound Zero through NesterJ on the PSP, however I'll usually mess around with my Dreamcast and SMSII on a nightly basis.
