Ordered the NSMB bundle, 3D World, Wind Waker, and Deus Ex HR, along with a screen protector for the gamepad and a Wii U Pro controller (Amazon 12 month financing!).
Should I consider one of those charge station/packs or something for the gamepads? Sony sure does spoil us with their awesome batteryless controllers. lol

The gamepad has a built in battery, though it does die out pretty fast. Also Sony's controllers (at least the wireless ones) all take batteries, what are you talking about?

You can import the extended battery from PlayAsia if you really need it. The gamepad lasts about 5 hours with no rumble + low brightness, 3 with everything turned up. It charges pretty quickly though. I just keep it on the charger when I'm not using it. It comes with a cradle so no reason to get a 3rd party one.
The Pro Controller lasts about 40 to 50 hours on a single charge, so I recommend you use that for games that don't need the gamepad anyway.
As far as some other cheap games, it has the best version of Most Wanted which you will probably enjoy if you like Burnout. It has the best version of Tekken Tag 2 as well. Monster Hunter is pretty great if you're into... Monster Hunter games. ZombiU is good if you like old style Resident Evil-esque games. It's slow and methodical but the feeling of tension and suspense it can provide is amazing really.
Basically, the entire launch lineup can be found for about $20 at this point so it should be easy to pick up some other games you enjoy for cheap.

@emwearz: PS3/PS4 are wireless and just need a USB cable to charge (which comes with the systems).
Just bought Tekken Tag 2 already for the PS3... haha, oh well. I'm not sure what else on the Wii U looks interesting now, but there's a lot on the Wii I want to check out. Plus I've been wanting to do this as an excuse to replay some stuff on the VC.

I think he meant that they have rechargeable batteries inside, while the Wii remotes needed AA batteries.
edit: And if that really bothers you, just get rechargeable batteries for the Wiimote. There's even an official Nintendo one now. I drop my four Wiimotes in a charging cradle, I haven't had to fiddle with replacing AA batteries for a while now.

You get ~5 hours to a charge, but I've never had a problem with running out of juice. The Pro controller also has a rechargeable battery, and comes with a USB cable to charge it from the U's front USB ports, just like the PS3.
Rechargeable batteries are great and convenient and all that, but I'd just like to point out something. They're, AFAIK, non standard batteries. Replacements can be bought now, but since we're a retro gaming forum, what about in the future? When the PS3 and Wii U are as old as the NES or SNES is now, and those batteries wont hold a charge anymore, will we be able to replace them? Well, yes, at least by hacking in something compatible if no replacements are available. But wont the Wii's remote be a lot easier? Because I don't think AA batteries are going anywhere any time soon. Same goes for the DS and 3DS and PSP.

@Ziggy, in the future, much like now, I imagine I will just play with my controller plugged into the wall.
My game pad spends a lot of time plugged into the wall, if I am using my Pro Controller, you still need to stupid thing turned on (yes you can turn the screen off, but the controller is still draining the battery, and fast), it dies like 10 times before I need to charge my Pro Controller, the controller I am actually using to play.

I walked into GAME (UK equivalent of GameStop) the other day and they're selling ZombiU brand new for £12. It's got to be about the cheapest great game on the Wii U. It was definitely one of my favourite games of 2012. I have to agree, the feeling of tension and suspense is phenomenal in this game. A few retailers in Australia have stopped stocking the Wii U, some Nintendo all together.
Because of this I have picked up a few games (like Luigi U) for $10 a piece, is this happening in the states as well?
