There's nothing inherently "anti-PG" in being a gay wrestler, as long as it's just that, a wrestler who also happens to be gay and not some kind of gimmick that his opponents use in promos to taunt him etc. Kids will sooner or later learn about it (that such thing as gays exist) anyways. Younger kids probably don't really care about things like that, while maybe kids in the 10-13 age group do.
If kids are not allowed to know about sex, they are probably shouldn't be allowed to know about what being gay is. Lets assume a 9 year old watches this on WWE then asks his father , "Dad , what does being gay means"... maybe some will be ok with it, but I bet a whole lot of people will be upset even those who do support gay marriage.
I don't think being aware that "gay" exists is any more objectionable than being exposed to the idea of romantic relationships in general.

There are rumors that Virgil got hired because he showed Pat Patterson how well endowed he was.

As far as Patterson being the first open gay wrestler. That's true that his peers knew he was gay, but it wasn't very public knowledge. Just like Vince was actually the owner or Joey Marella was actually Gorilla Monsoon's son. Even during the Attitude era where a lot of kayfabe things were coming out Jim Ross used to make inside jokes about Patterson on air such as "that is the largest man that has ever been on top of Pat Patterson" or "here comes Pat bringing up the rear as normal" without most fans noticing.

WWE hasn't mentioned Darren Young's sexual orientation on any programing. They acknowledged on their website and officials like Stephanie McMahon has congratulated him on social networking, but it hasn't been brought up on television.

Patterson's actual active wrestling years were before my time, so I can't really say. But I knew he was gay in the Attitude Era, as did many of my friends. The internet was around then.

And who didn't know Vince McMahon wasn't the owner? Everyone knew that. Even during his announcing years, it really wasn't a secret when he's hosting WrestleMania and showing up on T.V. to announce he took N.W.A.'s timeslot. If you completely bought into the "fakeness" of it all and were 6 years old, maybe you didn't know.

Well, in 1985 when Wrestlemania happened I was 6 years old. I think the NWA thing happened around the same time. My 7 year old believes on Easter a bunny breaks into our house and hides eggs and leaves a basket full of candy. So, yeah I'm sure I still bought into the "fakeness" of it all. What a stupid mark I was back then.

Wasn't calling you a stupid mark. Just saying it was pretty much known that Vince McMahon was the owner.

I used to watch wrestling heavily around 94-97 and never knew that Vince was more than an announcer because Gorilla Mansoon used to take the manager or the big boss. Its very hard to imagine the single owner of it all is on the announcement table. Can you Imagine Jim Ross or Jerry Lawler are the real owners of the WWE? Pretty hard isn't it? ... I didn't know that Vince was the boss until he basically said it on TV with him feuding with Austin. I think it was the screwjob that gave it away because it turned out to be a Vince screwed Bret thing and Vince had to do an interview to talk about how the WWF was reacting to this and explain everything.

Well, turning away from the "gay" subject. I think that WWE rushed the return of the Rhodes brothers. I wanted to see more ambush attacks on the heels.
I am buying all Saturn games, PM me with your offerings and I will let you know if I need the game or not! (Everything must be CIB)

Currently trying to knock off all the sports games, would like to get them <$5 each! Of course if you would like to donate them I will gladly pay the shipping! :)
