I gave up on it after losing anything that hurt it. Kind of disappointing having that there like that.

It is there for a reason and also... it can be killed...just... not right away. You are supposed to be afraid of them. You shouldn't be able to easily kill it off the bat.Tanooki wrote:I gave up on it after losing anything that hurt it. Kind of disappointing having that there like that.

Re: Zelda Breath of the Wild - Wii U vs. Switch
I worked until 1am this morning (18hr day) and fired up the WiiU version after breakfast this morning. Normally my kids and I don't like the same video games (they love Pokemon, Driving Games, and Minecraft) but watching me play for about 10 minutes, they loved the finding of resources, cutting down trees, etc. It reminded them of Minecraft. I think I may have found our perfect family bonding game - this may be the transition game I have been waiting for that we can play and discuss together.
Other than the fact that my kids were taken away by the similarity to a game they thoroughly enjoy, I have to say I love the art direction and the beauty of the game. I never have been one to notice frame rates, but I did notice some drop when running around. Right now it's noticeable, but I'm hoping once I get lost in the game I won't notice it.
The WiiU game is quite serviceable, and I am glad that I bought this version instead of getting the Switch. My family and I have more WiiU games to play through (the kids have: SMW3D, Skyladers - I have Starfox, Twilight Princess, Xenoblade, and more) first.

This is the price of a good open world. Sometimes there are things that make you dead real fast because you aren't ready yet, grasshopper.

I've never played a game in which this is more true than Xenoblade Chronicles X.marurun wrote:This is the price of a good open world. Sometimes there are things that make you dead real fast because you aren't ready yet, grasshopper.

I just figured out how to keep from dying in the low temperature section and I'm on the final leg of the initial plateau area.
So far, this game has exceeded my expectations by a long stretch. My biggest problem is keeping my kids away from it long enough to satisfy my own intense desire to journey deeper down the rabbit hole.

The only open world game I've bothered with is the Guild Wars duo of titles, never touched Morrowind or any of that level of stuff as it had little appeal.
I need to get through that icy area, hopefully I can figure out why you can't accurately place the metal plate over that bridge so it just goes in the drink. There has to be more than just push and pull to it. I'll fire it up in a bit, not sure how this afternoon is going to go and don't want to get into something to shut it off.

I picked up the Wii U version yesterday after work. I haven't had a chance to touch it though. Hopefully tonight or tomorrow after church. Based on comments of people here I'm looking forward to it.

Upgrading your outfits/armor: Is it worth it and when? I'm wondering if it's worth me buying stuff from kakariko village, like the Hylian hood... But since rupees are so scarce in this game and you can only really get them by selling stuff, I'm wondering whether just to skip it until I come across useful stuff like weather resistant outfits.
