I'm still quite a fan of Odd Future, and enjoying Tyler's latest effort: "WOLF".

Earl Sweatshirt is def my favorite out of the group though, and sadly I haven't had a chance to pick up Doris yet though I loved "Woah" and "Chum" big time.

I love his mixtape EARL and his early cuts, but Doris is pretty sleepy for me. Admittedly I've only listened to the entire thing once, so I'm sure it'll grow on me.

I got to listen to the new Eminem album. Most of it I really like, however there a few songs that he has R&B singers on the hook. This is a pet peeve of mine. For some reason, I hate this. Other than that though, the album is really good. He strikes a fantastic balance between his old goofy style with his more mature style he uses on Recovery. He uses his accents sparingly, which is a good thing. He really over did them on Encore and Relapse, but didn't use enough on Recovery.

Overall I think it is a great album. I don't know how well it will do with the casual fans, but I feel this album was made for Hip Hop fans, not the masses.

I was listening to the b-boy's Hot Sauce Committee 2 yesterday and it occurred to me that I can't remember a single time they've had beef with an other artist. Then it occurred to me that I couldn't think of another chart topping rapper that didn't have beef with another rapper. Even LL put out diss tracks.

Beastie Boys are one of my favorite artists. But I have to say, once they ditched the live instrument segments and super cool instrumental songs (generally all the stuff past Hello Nasty) they just werent as good. I still enjoyed their work, but nothing will compare with Check Your Head, Ill Communication, and Hello Nasty. I was deeply saddened when MCA passed away. The Beastie Boys are the first band that I can ever remember being a fan of. My sister used to introduce me to new music as far back as elementary school and when I was in 3rd grade she brought home License to Ill and I have been a fan of them ever since.

Huh? Hot Sauce Committee 2 is almost nothing but instrumental songs (Plus Paul's Boutique is their best album the vhs tape of that album is one of the best things ever ).

I cried like a kid with a scraped knee when I learned of MCA's death. I won't go as far as saying the Beastie Boys provided the soundtrack for my life, but in ways they kind of did. Lots of "firsts" were accompanied by their music. That, and I would be surprised if I don't have lyric to every song (even the b-sides and solo projects) memorized.

The respect the hip hop community has for the boys is astounding and the landscape of music would not be the same without what they did. Pioneers they were.

Speaking of the Beastie Boys, anyone catch Rick Rubin DJ'ing on SNL last night?

I did notice that HSC2 was more of a return to form, but IMO it still didn't capture the magic that they produced in the 90s. But it's rare for any band to be able to do that. I honestly haven't given HSC2 the attention it deserves. I'm going to go back and listen to it some more.

Definitely give it a listen, watch the short for it, and also check out AWESOME...I FUCKING SHOT THAT! I guarantee you'll say "They didn't drop off at all".
