High Tech Soul - The Creation of Techno MusicI stumbled upon this earlier today. A fantastic documentary on the roots of Detroit techno, touching on its worldwide influence.
It's an hour long, but well worth it.

Currently listening to some vocaloid stuff by AVTechno! featuring Hatsune Miku.

I'm not sure if I can think of another band that cranks albums out as quickly as KMFDM. They just pop up out of nowhere (then again I never follow music news, I like being surprised, and frankly I don't understand the idea of reading text about something as subjective as music).

Generally a year per album in busy periods from a band with multiple people.

Multiples per year in busy periods from a single person except for a few collaborations.

Nice pick. Once you're through with that, might I suggest the dreamy DYE SYNTHESIS by Electrocutica?

This was an excellent recommendation. Thank you. I'm new to the whole vocaloid thing, so I'm trying to get a handle on what's good. I'm sort of fascinated by everything vocaloid right now, but I can tell that once the novelty fades that only some tracks will still be any good, and this is the kind of stuff that should have more lasting power.

It's pretty uncommon to hear a good English vocaloid track, especially with animation to go with it, so this is a rare treat:

Glad you liked it. I'll get to those as soon as I can! I really prefer artists who write whole albums, rather than collections of singles. I'm always happy to be recommended one.
I've been into Vocaloid music for a few months. Most times I listen to an album, I delete it right away, but stuff like DYE SYNTHESIS has real staying power and proves the Vocaloids are as capable instruments as they are fascinating.
This whole culture is awesome. It's this super energetic mix of the familiar DIY punk/metal ethos I know and the wild experimentation that I love.
