Tokyo ESP is getting better however I still think the 6 Year gap between the 1st and second episode was way to much. I mean they showed a full episode of 6 years in the future establishing essentially who is going to live for sure and the max extent to which their powers would be growing, and then went back to the beginning when everyone was just getting their powers.
It's just weird to see them do the show this way it's kind of like having a massive spoiler as your intro. The weird thing was the end of the first episode didn't really hint that they would be starting from the beginning of the story or even having flashbacks to explain peoples back stories . It just kind of feels like watching the first episode of the 2nd or 3rd season of a show and then getting tossed back to episode 1 without warning.
I actually think people would get more enjoyment out of the show by skipping episode 1 and then going back when it's relevant .
Something must be wrong with me, I went from watching Future Diary to watching Eden of the East(which seem to be one in the same in some details). I mean they're both about games, one of the selected is a police officer, and both involve becoming a savior of sorts(even though it doesn't really feel like it in mirai nikki at some points especially nearing the end).
I mean I just finished "Now is no time to be thinking about that!" which is episode 5 and already 2 celecao's are dead but at least they aren't really out to kill each other unless they do something truly wrong that won't accomplish the end goal of saving the country...

I watched Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind last night for the first time. Great story. Great dialogue. Great animation. Great voice acting (I watched the American dub). But the sound design was horrible. It really cheapened the movie and made it kind of hard to connect with. I've never been so negatively affected by sound design. It's a great movie on all other accounts though.
Blood: The Last Vampire - The original OVA has about a 45 minute runtime, and is set on halloween. The (terrrible) live action version uses some elements of it, and the property was spun off into other media and a couple TV shows that expand it a lot. Regardless, the original is worth a watch.
While not scary, Little Witch Academia might be a good one to throw on as it's a one-off (so far), and fun to watch. In a way, it was Trigger's warm-up before Kill la Kill.
Hellsing, of course. Ultimate is the way to go. More or less the same situation as Full Metal Alchemist. The original series went off the rails fast, where Ultimate follows the manga closely.
Kurozuka possibly, at least at times. First episode gets grisly at least.
RIN: Daughters of Mnemosyne gets pretty weird, but has enough odd...torture..fetish..stuff...to make it count, perhaps.
Claymore, maybe. I wouldn't necessarily put it entirely into horror either, but it's human-eating monsters getting hunted down by part-monsters that sometimes lose control/etc.
High School of the Dead, if you want zombies, boobs, and gun porn, not necessarily in that order.
Soul Eater is, of course, not scary, but thematically it fits.
Vampire Hunter D movies.
While not anime per se, the Spawn animated series was pretty good - think R rated Batman the Animated Series.
Haven't really bumped into any really scary anime in quite a while .
Two that are more recent but probably fall closer to action then horror are Terra Formars(just started), and Tokyo Ghoul(Season 1 Just Ended). Subbed version of Tokyo Ghoul is up on Hulu with ads.
Browsing through Hulu to see what else is on there. Really surprised at how much anime they have now . Shows:
High School of the Dead- Decent Zombie flick not super scary but plenty of tense moments. It is pretty perverted though and has more jiggle physics then a standard DOA game . Also has one of the most pathetic endings ever...
Devil May Cry. Pretty decent anime more action then scary. Like the Game series I have never finished it.
Psychic Detective Yakumo- has it's moments basically a crime/mystery show with a psychic who can talk to the dead.
Thanks! I've seen some of these (HSotD, RIN, Claymore) and had others on my watch list for a while (Hellsing, Blood, VHD), so it's good to know I'm headed in the right direction. Keep 'em coming!
Just finished the First season of Tokyo ESP. Pretty awesome show overall. Luckily what I mistook for a six year gap(might have been a translation error in the sub) between the first episode and the second was actually only six to seven months. I still think that it would have been better to present the episodes in chronological order since episode 1 is really like episode 10 and they didn't set it up very well . However everything else was great. The show progressed nicely even the characters that I thought would be useless ended up having some really neat abilities and the story was entertaining with a couple unexpected turns tossed in. Also had a nice balance of humor with the action which helped break up the tension from time to time.
Especially loved one instance in which Bruce Lee was referenced

Hmm, people have made some good suggestions so far, but I'm going to add:
Jigoku Shoujo, aka Hell Girl - About a supernatural system that allows people to take revenge on others by having them sent to Hell via the services of the aforementioned Hell Girl and her assistants.
Wicked City - Part horror, part noir-esque cop film. Two agents of the "Black Guard" try to keep peace between the human and demon world.
And for some Halloween-lite, there's always Kiki's Delivery Service. Not exactly scary or anything, but hey, at least it's got a witch in it.
Ugh, so I just finished "Eden of the East: Paradise Lost" which means I've officially finished the show, but I wish they'd of dragged it on a bit further, I was hoping in the end they'd get back together, the epilogue remedies that thing Akira wanted to do to Mr Outside eventually but still I guess I'm just feeling a little selfish and mad that it was that short but this was a good thing i wouldn't of minded lasting more than 11 days(and 11 episodes )
