For all book fans, I am sure this movie inspired many to read the book so be happy - I will read it... eventually.
Oh, yeah, the movie is not true to the book in any sense of the word. Well, I mean I guess most of the characters' names are similar, and some of their genders are the same, but that's about it. The messages and attitudes of the movie are lightyears away from the novel.

However, both are pretty awesome in very different ways. The film did generate two straight-to-video sequels, which I hear are remarkably awful. I can understand fans of the book disliking the movie, though. The book is pretty serious, and is more political than anything, while the movie is, well, Starship Troopers.

Vash23n -- stop wasting your time. Read the book.

Last movies I saw:

Sherlock Holmes-- Some purists complained, but I think this was true to the spirit of Sherlock Holmes. I thought it was a little slow during the first half, and my friends who used to live in London tell me that the geography is a little screwed up, but I really enjoyed it.

Eragon-- This came on SyFy. It had a lot of problems. I would not recommend it to anyone over about twelve.

How to Lose Friends and Alienate People-- I laughed quite a bit. I'm pretty easy to please, but I'd give it a solid four out of five. Like Starship Troopers, purists of the book might not like it (I haven't read the book, nor do I plan to), but I thought it was a lot of fun. I'm surprised to find myself in agreement in Roger Ebert.

You can read about it on Wikipedia here:

I have seen the 2nd and 3rd, they are not good. The 2nd can at least pass for a crummy syfy channel action movie, but the 3rd is terrible. They tried using too many lines and scenes from the first (to try recapture the success of the first, I imagine) - even a lighthearted, stand around without noticing because this is the future, nudity scene. Somehow that tied into the final battle (so it wasn't just a semi-understandable shower scene.

I agree about Eragon.

If you have insomnia watch Push. And one would think Dakota Fanning should have been cast as a "Screamer".

Godzilla:Final Wars

Such a great movie for several reasons:

1. Don Frye (In case you dont know Don Frye. He's the one who has the American shorts on)

2. Kung Fu action. Its everywhere

3. The human plot is actually interesting and doesnt drag on. Maybe because of Reason 2

4. Ryûhei Kitamura directed it and he's been making some of the best movies around

5. American Godzilla gets Owned

repo men

It was terrible, and yet I loved it. One thing that puts this one head and shoulders above your average "so bad it's good" movie is that when it's trying to be funny, it's really very funny, and when it's not trying to be funny, it's still hilarious.
I want to say that the entire movie was something of a self parody when it wasn't trying to be a comedy. The whole movie was so perfectly bad, it just couldn't have been an accident.

I watched Star Trek Generations for the first time in over a decade. I saw this in the theater and once on VHS rental tape. I dig it.
