Sort of a side note ~ Lost World is easily the best looking game on the WiiU so far from what I saw in that demo. Runs at 60fps without a hitch, full 720p from what I can tell. Tons of foliage and good anti aliasing. So much color. It really looks very nice.

I just realised something , New Super Mario game is the first Mario game in HD. I guess that is something worth while to be written in gaming history

...New Super Mario Bros U and New Super Luigi U both exist already.

It's upscaled.

Sorry my mistake, there are so many Mario platformers , I lost count. I thought Super Mario 3D World is going to be The "Mario Platformer" of the Wii U

The Mario series is kinda large now, so I can see why it gets confusing. I think most people agree to call them spin offs from the "main" series of Mario games.

"New" series/spinoff:
New Super Mario Bros (DS)
New Super Mario Bros Wii
New Super Mario Bros 2 (3DS)
New Super Mario Bros U
New Super Luigi U

"3D" series/spinoff:
Super Mario 3D Land (3DS)
Super Mario 3D World (U)
Super Mario 3D ______ (likely to happen)

Main series:
Super Mario Bros 1-3 (NES)
Super Mario World (SNES)
Super Mario 64 (N64)
Super Mario Sunshine (GCN)
Super Mario Galaxy 1&2 (Wii)
Super Mario ________ (next major Mario release on the U)

I think 3D World is intended to be the next "main series" game.

From all the Nintendo videos I've seen, they haven't promoted it as such. Also, it's a 3D environment but the camera is locked and not free roaming like the past major Mario installments.

I don't believe that it is, nor do I want it to be. I'm calling this part of the "3D" spinoff and not the next major Mario installment on the U. It's yet to come.

A camera being locked as opposed to free roaming is a pretty insignificant change from what's kinda clearly the same basic gameplay of the past few games.

Not sure why it'd bother you for this to be the next mainline/flagship Mario title. It looks fantastic.

I'd love to see another game in Nintendo's Mario/Wario Land series.

Super Mario Land (gb)
Super Mario Land 2 (gb)
Super Mario Land 3: Wario Land (gb)
VB Wario Land (vb)
Wario Land 2 (gbc)
Wario Land 3 (gbc)
Wario Land 4 (gba)
Wario Land: Shake (wii)
Wario Land_______(I hope this happens)

I love this series.

Oh, I'm not bashing it. It DOES look fantastic. I can't wait to play it. But it's not the next installment in the main series.
