What was the last movie you've seen?
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
I just watched the extended cut of That Thing You Do! I know the theatrical cut well enough that I was able to know all of the extra scenes. It's definitely worth a watch if you're a fan of the movie.

New write-up of the week:
Spider Baby

And entertaining little dark comedy starring Lon Chaney Jr. as the caretaker of a family of murderous, childlike ruffians. It's basically the humor of The Adams Family spliced together with Texas Chainsaw Massacre, so no matter how dark it gets the characters are so carefree that it doesn't feel so dark. It has a couple of very unfortunate 'non-PC' moments, but for the most part it's a fun little ride.

Your reviews, as always, are such a pleasure. Keep it up, Michi!
Have you ever considered collecting them into a book?

Aw, thanks

New write-up of the week:
Blind Women's Curse

Another lovely, yet bizarre outing from Japan involving rival yakuza gangs and a plot of revenge. There's also a hunchback, a roguish wanderer, a smelly guy in a top-hat, and a (dead? fake?) cat pulled along by a string. Add in a healthy dose of blood and comedy and you have yet another odd, yet entertaining outing from our friends from the land of the rising sun. I fully admit to not knowing what was going on much of the time, but it was still a fun ride.

Surprised I've never seen that one, but I wasn't too big on the other Meiko Kaji films I've seen (Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion and Lady Snowblood)
Re: What was the last movie you've seen?
It's kind of like..... a yakuza film crossed with Hausu, if that makes any sense, only it's not quite as insane as Hausu.
Still a lot of insanity, though.

The last new write-up before I switch over to the October Horror thread for the month:
Nomads

Ah, Nomads. I wanted to like you more than I did, Nomads. But you're the type of film that thinks it's much more clever than it actually is, one with a bunch of neat ideas, but ultimately filled with 'meh' cause few of those ideas end up actually going anywhere meaningful. Ah well, at least you looked pretty and the cast was easy on the eyes.

Yeah, Nomads is a weird one that I want to be better. It deserves to be better, it just... isn't. Still, I did enjoy it.

Re: What was the last movie you've seen?

Its kinda like a Norwegian version of Cannonball Run. So why was I watching a Norwegian car movie you ask. Well my family is huge fans of a oddball animated film from there called Two Buddies and a Badger. It is based on a musical comedy duo from the 70s/80s and honestly is pretty trippy. The sequel to it came out last week and the news was that it was surprising that it was going neck and neck with Borning 3 in the box office. So I hit up a buddy of mine in Finland who had a copy and he put it on his plex server for me.
