So is it best if I play all 3 games, 180 hours in a row? I'd like to for the story, but at 8 hours I have literally played fetch with my dog while beating a boss and talking to my sister. It requires that little attention

The story seems original and I really hope it gets going soon. Shion, KOS-MOS, Ziggy and MOMO are awesome, but I am really disliking Little Master. It's not just the way he looks either. Some moments in this game I'm completely fascinated and others I just shake my head and who thought that was a good idea?

The games really aren't that long actually, Xenoblade is probably as long as all of them combined which is funny (also considering Xenoblade is the complete opposite, it's like 70% gameplay and 30% story or something). All the Xenosaga's can be beat probably around the 30 hour mark, maybe even less for II, it's that short.

Ah man you don't like Jr? I wish they didn't do that for his looks, but I like his character a lot... admittedly he's been kind of annoying again in the first. The second game focuses a lot on him though, maybe that helped boosted my liking to him and he's cooler in the sequels. Always was a fan myself. Yeah Ziggy and MOMO are great. chaos is a weird one... even having beat all of them, I've been scratching my head lately wondering exactly what his purpose was. He's pretty weird.

The story does pick up more and more as you go, the first game definitely seemed to have a slow drive. By the time you get to III though, the story is just completely insane (in a good way) and even more ambitious than Xenogears, it's really out there and done well if you like crazy stuff like this. The Nietzsche influences are very strong later on. The third game has a big database within the game as well which is like Bible sized, the amount of detail in its universe is ridiculous.

It's funny how Shion is probably the worst character and has her insanely bad moments, even throughout III... but the side cast gets bigger and bigger so it never really ruined anything for me.

I like Allen a lot, lol. May as well be Xenosaga's Otacon.

I've been hopping between a bunch of the old Infinity Engine games over the last week, and finally decided on the first Baldur's Gate as the game I'll replay through (I know a lot of people say skip to the second, but I want to do the whole damn thing =D ).

It's making me really appreciate how RPGs have changed in the last 10-15 years. The pace of this game is a lot slower, and more relaxed. It's not all stimulus, stimulus, stimulus like a lot of modern games are where players cut through huge swaths of enemies all willy nilly. Leveling up feels like something major, as does finding new weapons and armor. Battles against tough enemies really make me work for a win, or realize that I should probably make a tactical retreat (some of the bounty hunters are making me realize this at the moment). The characters are still great too. I think Minsc will always be one of my favorite characters in an RPG. =)

Just finished up the Nashkel Mines, and ran into Nimbul, who has been mopping the floor with my party. I think I'm going to have to make a run for it when she attacks, hope some Amnish soldiers step in to defend me, then make a hasty retreat to a different zone.

I actually preferred the first game. I have played through it, both with and without the expansion, a few times. I never made it all the way through the sequel.

After a rocky start, and then mentally giving up on the game, I decided to give Threads of Fate another chance. Now, I am really enjoying it. I've completed the game with Rue and am now about halfway through the replay with Mint.

Finished Xenosaga. That story took such a detour. I really wish they focused more on KOS-MOS, because despite the length of the cutscenes the writers bit off more than they could chew. I wanted to learn more about the android and the world around her, which is fascinating, but it ended up being several minutes of a pretty boy laughing about how he had transcended death. Started getting convoluted and pretentious, but the ending was awesome. Ah...I'm trying to figure out exactly what happened. End of the game and I still don't know what a Zohar is.

So...those space battles all tended to be one side being wiped out in one shot, didn't they?

On to Episode II.

I think I'm a bigger fan of II over the first when I think about it. It hit me again last night that the fact that the Gnosis is no longer a focus at all in the sequels, is a good thing. So it leaves a lot more room for development on actual characters and better things to come. KOS-MOS gets a lot of focus in the third game.

It will be interesting to see what you think of II. Hopefully you have an okay time with it, as the battle system is insanely weird. Enjoy some BGM, it finally has music everywhere and different battle themes... thank goodness, lol.

First two games are rough around the edges, but yeah I can't stop praising III, lol. So hopefully you can make it to that one eventually.

I'm at the Song of Nephilim myself and the battles are definitely a chore at this point. Though pretty close to the end it seems.

I finished Threads of Fate last night. I don't think I will be doing a "new game+", but it was worth the two play-throughs. The bonus ending after completing it with both characters has them going off on another adventure. I'm not sure this was intended to lead into a sequel, as many people seem to believe. I think it was just Square leaving their options open, while still providing a decent closure to the story.

I read that the game design is similar to Brave Fencer Musashi. I have that game and did play it for a bit many years ago. I am considering starting that one up, although I do have a game of Legend of Mana going. I still need to finish off Legend of Dragoon. My belief that it is one of the better games I have played has not wavered, but I am taking a break to try some more lighter games. My Dragoon session is at a good point to pause, so it will be easy to pick up again soon. These "summer of adventure" games are proving to be interesting after all.
