The worst bit has died down a bit and is moving north. Hopefully the levee contains it so it doesn't come my way and I-10 will contain it heading north. It was worse for a bit. Still have to see what happens.

There's still fire, but no more huge billowing clouds of smoke like there were earlier.

Seriously dude, pack just in-case. Y'never know what's gonna happen and I'd rather deal with unpacking than regret of not packing stuff I'd want/need to take with.

Fix'd.

That "NOOOO" thing is awful. It was so cheesy I almost laughed when I heard while watching Episode 3 for the first time years ago. I can't believe Lucas thinks it's a good addition to Return of the Jedi. That scene with Vader, Luke and the Emperor is one of my favorites in the entire series. And that added "NOOOO" ruins it. It was so well constructed the way it was.
Ep3 was hard to watch because of that. I've been meaning to rip and edit that "noo" out and replace it with a menacing scream or something less pansy-like.

The Wilhelm scream perhaps?

Thankfully it is all under control now. I'm sure there are still some smoldering bits but they stopped the spread with fire breaks even within the levee and confines of the park. I can see what looks like a water drop helicopter every now and then just over the top of the houses. I was freaking out last night because this is the only time I've ever had a large fire nearby that could have threatened my home. :(

They're not sure how it started yet, but it was near a road. As recently as last Saturday I saw some dumbfuck toss their cigarette butt out the window, I bet that's what caused it. :x

F'ing smokers throwing their butts out the window. I mean, what the hell are they thinking? I'm not just referring to the fire hazard but the litter aspect of it.

The problem might be exacerbated now because many cars/trucks lack ash trays. :?

I have a fantasy that plays occasionally in my mind where I own some large ugly beater car that I don't care about the looks and I keep butts handy. If I see someone toss one out the window and I'm next to them at a light I say "Hey, you dropped something." and flick one in their open window and watch them freak out. I also use this vehicle to happily trade paint with tailgaters and asshole parkers trying to get back into their vehicles. *sigh*

 Awesome fantasy. I sometimes have similar fantasies where my car would pop out a tank gun out from the hood or shoot missiles. Not necessarily at a smoker but definitely after some potential road rage incident. One can dream, right?
