Have you ever seen the stage musical of this? It is a sight to behold.

I...did not even know this existed.Ack wrote:Have you ever seen the stage musical of this? It is a sight to behold.
But after listening to a couple songs (thanks, Youtube!), it sounds like a real trip.

Yeah, it is amazing. If you ever get the chance to see it, take it.

So I like lists, and since I am turning 40 soon I am taking the opportunity to make several and share them. I posted a music one the other day, but here's a top 40 list of one favorite movie from each year I've been alive:

Good list! Surprised to see Cube on there. It’s a solid film, but I wouldn’t have picked it to be the best released that year.

For 1997 I also seriously considered Jackie Brown, The Game, Lost Highway, The 5th Element, Contact, and Amistad (among others). At the time (senior year of HS) The Game or Amistad would probably have been my pick, but I think “Cube” has ultimately been a little more influential in both shaping the direction of its genre (think Saw, Hostel, etc.) and of my own future film viewing, so it won out by a nose.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Good list! There are some obscure ones like Toys and Do the Right Thing. If they were popular I wouldn't know it was before my time. Most surprising one in there is Cabin in the Woods, if it was supposed to be a homage or a B-Movie on steroids I didn't get the joke. I judged it as its own thing.dsheinem wrote:So I like lists, and since I am turning 40 soon I am taking the opportunity to make several and share them.
