You really should, Arkane is one of my favorite studios right now.

Did you get it? Nice little Looking Glass nod near the beginning.

I'm getting some SOMA vibes too in an awesome way.

More than one reference. The door code and then the Looking Glass system breaking down. The atmosphere and layout of the station is also giving me System Shock vibes. It's like they ported the skill system of SS2 back to SS1. But then they've added things on top, like the mantling and the GLOO gun to climb walls like it's Deus Ex LAMs again. And I sneaked a peak at the achievements and there's more shit that's going to be available to us in the future (though it was implied through some in game items).

Needless to say, I'm loving the hell out of this so far.

Prey sounds right up my alley, but history shows if I wait 6 months, I can buy it for cheap. I know that's not good for the game's success but I'm on a budget. I just bought a $200 arcade stick!

I'm still playing Perfect Dark-Perfect Agent. I'm on Air Force One. I almost beat it my 1st try so I'm not that worried about this one.

Dishonored 2 was half off just a few weeks ago, when I got it (again). Merely 4 months after release... so yeah. Granted it had some trouble with its botchy release so they were probably trying to salvage things, but yeah either way games drop down super fast thesedays.

I notice it looks like you can upgrade the wrench which is what I'll be all about. In Dishonored I prefer stealth, but in the Shock's I'm definitely lethal. I don't like using the GLOO much offensively, though it helped me take out a phantom early on. But yeah I can tell it will be a blast to use for getting around the environment. Can't wait to get the shotgun though. Apparently for buying it on Steam yesterday morning I got the pre-order bonuses.

And you're right, this is Arkane leaning way heavier into System Shock than even Bioshock did... and I'm not complaining. 8)

You can't use weapon upgrades on the wrench, but your skills include wrench buffs. But I'd say this is not a game you can solo wrench; there's too many enemies that have nasty aoe skills that will murder you if you try to wrench them.

I also feel like I've gone a bit off the rails; I'm randomly exploring places I'm not supposed to go and I've gotten a bit homicidal. I also pulled a Morrowind and killed an important NPC. The game keeps going so when I finally trigger the next step of the main quest we'll see what happens.

I don't think this is a spoiler but I was hearing weeks back from the devs on a podcast or something that you can literally kill everyone in the game. It has dozens of endings apparently. I imagine it's just little differences like the Dishonored endings, but it still probably changes out a lot in game or locks you out of things. Maybe you can get around them in different ways though.

I've decided in my headcanon that Morgan is in cleanup mode; no witnesses. And she's pretty pissed at Alex for not being more forthcoming.

I saved the people in the shuttle bay, but I wonder if that's what sets up the premise for Dead Space 2.

Game is glorious and I still don't have any powers or more weapons, though I have ammo for what looks like will be a laser cannon or something.

A new month has revealed itself and I'm loving where this story is going.

I'm assuming engineer operations bots help fend off enemies? Got my hacking up to level 3 now and that's coming in handy for sure. I've sunk in a fair bit into the recycling abilities and it almost seems a little OP. I'm drowning in resources on top of already carrying tons of ammo/health, but oh well. That was the case with System Shock 2 as well honestly.

Science Operators - Psi
Medical Operators - HP
Engineering Operators - Armor

Just finished the game with my kill 'em all ending, though it didn't trigger the achievement. The stats show 0% of people have it, which makes me think it's bugged. There was one NPC that seemed unaccounted for, but the game had been making a point of telling me that NPC was trapped in space, running out of air, and was required to trigger a few steps of the main quest (which happened after I had first encountered this NPC). So either this NPC is super hidden or the game is bugged and thinks that NPC needs to die when the NPC isn't actually available to be killed.
