Firing up the Genaside II albums today. I like the 2 latter better, but band theme for the evening.

Bullet Proof Jumper (not sure why there's a picture of Goldie on there)

New release from Gangrene and besides the Greneberg EP they did with Roc Marciano, I didn't know what to expect but this is some different stuff. Vodka & Ayahuasca (Official Music Video)
In rap-related news: Sean Price admits inadvertently on Twitter to finally be finish recording Mic Tyson and Masta Ace's/MF Doom collaboration album MA Doom: Son of Yvonne is confirmed by Masta Ace to be coming out Q2 of this year and judging from the snippets I heard in a radio interview with him, its sounding pretty dope.

my understanding on the DOOM/Ace collabo is that it's basically like the John Robinson Project -- it's just Ace rapping over previously released Doom instrumentals. I might (hope) I'm wrong about that.OldSchool_Boy wrote: In rap-related news: Sean Price admits inadvertently on Twitter to finally be finish recording Mic Tyson and Masta Ace's/MF Doom collaboration album MA Doom: Son of Yvonne is confirmed by Masta Ace to be coming out Q2 of this year and judging from the snippets I heard in a radio interview with him, its sounding pretty dope.

Thats what it is. Masta Ace rapping over various beats from the Special Herbs collection. Also, Doom is supposed to have a verse on one of the songs.noiseredux wrote: my understanding on the DOOM/Ace collabo is that it's basically like the John Robinson Project -- it's just Ace rapping over previously released Doom instrumentals. ...kind of a let-down considering all those Herb beats have been out since 2006 or earlier.OldSchool_Boy wrote:Thats what it is. Re: What are you listening to at the present?
yeah I get that. Just a lot of that stuff's been re-used several times over now. To me, it's kind of a let-down to just hear the same handful of beats over and over. I bought the original Doom albums, then the Herbs versions, then Grimm made a whole album with them (Herbs & Spices), then Doom put out 2 mashup albums with them (Special Blends), then a lot of those tracks got used here and there (Ghostface, Masta Killa, etc) then Trunks used a bunch to make a full EP as Unicron, then the John Robinson album came out using all Herbs I had already heard. Hell, even Doom's Born Into This album from 2009 used a handful of beats that were already 3 years old by that point. So I just feel like this album would be way more exciting if it meant some new Doom beats FINALLY.OldSchool_Boy wrote:In the interview, Masta Ace said along the lines that they were brand new to himnoiseredux wrote: ...kind of a let-down considering all those Herb beats have been out since 2006 or earlier.
