Jewish funerals, overall, are much less expensive and skip many of the things that funerals from other religions might think of. No viewings, embalming is frowned upon unless it is legally required, simple wooden caskets are preferred, flowers are seen as frivolous, and most funerals are only about 30 minutes at the absolute most.

In Judaism, it is preferred to get the deceased buried as soon as possible, and viewings are considered taboo.

Precisely. Get the unhygienic corpse into the ground ASAP, then the grieving process can happen at the slower pace of life in the homes of the bereaved. Instead of doing a pre-burial wake we do a post-burial shiva.

Thank you, Fragems.

My kids are scared and so am I, I don't want to lie to them and tell them how everything is fine, when I don't know. Really shitty day.
Hang in there, jp1. Sending good thoughts your family's way, and hoping everything gets sorted out fast.

Ticked: I closed the garage door on my car

Smile: For some reason, it only left a scuff. So far, it looks like it can be removed with some elbow grease. And I can't notice any deep scratches, cracks, or dents. And I'm picky as hell. The hood and bumper still seem to be securely in place too.

It was a little scary. I closed the garage door and went inside. And I kept hearing the garage door trying to close. I went back, and see the big garage door bending through it's hinges.

Sometimes, I feel like I am the luckiest person in the world when it comes to these things. Whenever something annoying like this happens, it's never as bad as I think it will be.
