What was the last movie you've seen?

I finally watched Charlie and the Chocolate Family (the new one). I really didn't like this film. I just felt like there was no substance. It seemed like they had a couple of scenes they really wanted to put in (the kids learning their lesson scenes) and the rest was just rushing through with as many witty Johnny Depp zingers as possible. Johnny Depp really missed the mark on this character. Just too forced weird and eccentric. I have seen him play natural weird and eccentric characters before so I know he can do it, but this was a mess. Just be as annoyingly weird as possible, when it seems like it is too much, triple it. Kind of how I feel about the Pirates of the Caribbean movies - he did well with the Jack Sparrow character in the first one. Seems like they realized after that it was a hit and so he tried to force it too much in the next two films. I really loved the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but I was excited to see a remake (I usually don't mind remakes, but actually like seeing different director's perspectives). This film, I just didn't see the point.

I disagree. I didn't like the Oompa Loompas in either version, but I enjoyed the newer one because it was more faithful to the book, which I liked a lot more than the old Gene Wilder film. They changed the ending, though.

The other day I watched "The Proposal" with my wife. It was pretty bad, but I'll admit to laughing a few times. I've never seen so much slapstick in a romantic comedy! It was practically a cartoon at times.

I just finished watching "The Fantastic Mr. Fox". I tend to enjoy Wes Anderson films, but pretty much hated "The Darjeeling Limited". This was much better.

I respect that opinion. Maybe it's just my own nostalgia that got in the way of enjoying the new film. I did not like the ending, however, but that seems to be the one universal (almost) criticism from fans and foes alike.
