is there a composite->VGA adaptor? I want to play my 64 on crt! No place for a full tv.
This is even better, noise sold me his Gamecube/N64/SNES to VGA adapter a while back. It converts the SVideo signal of the console to VGA and though not "480p" VGA, the image does not look too bad on my VGA CRT monitor. I use this for my N64.

how much is it? Where do I get the S-Video cables for the n64? and how do you deal with the sound?
Happy to say I'm the owner of Grandia II again, got a really sweet copy off ebay for a fair price...also replaced my busted Sonic Adventure game and in that bundle came with the last Midway arcade game I needed of the launch trio - Hydro Thunder. The doofus on that package though put both cases in a bubble bag, that's it, and both fronts cracked into a few pieces but the discs and rest survived fine.
Is it that hard to put something in the case between the disc and top, or better yet, put a small piece of cardboard between them and another on the outside with a little tape to hold it? I do this with CDs, never had a case destroyed even in a bubble bag.
I've always heard the Dreamcast version of Grandia 2 is a lot better than the PS2 port, which supposedly has worse loading and missing music or something.

The box already takes the SVideo output of the console. Here is the Amazon link:

I heard the same thing and, bizarrely, I also heard the PC version was based on the shoddy PS2 port. I'm not sure if that's true though, as I've only ever played the Dreamcast original.

Here's the truth according to cited info tied to the wikipedia on this. I knew the answer to the PS2 one, was not sure about the PC game, but rest assured it's taken from the DC and other than some fight glitch and some video files it's not bad.
Grandia II was ported to PlayStation 2 and PC after its initial release on Dreamcast. In the PlayStation 2 version, some of the textures and characters are less graphically detailed than on the Dreamcast version. Also, there is a tendency for graphical glitches and slow down to occur in areas with heavy graphic data. For instance, when a party member defeats the last enemy standing while using the Warp effect of weapon or accessory, the character's color scheme vanishes and only a bright white model is left.
On the PC port, there is a glitch in the first fight with Millenia. There are also several video files on the disc which contain extra frames appearing as a freeze after the casting of certain spells.
On May 11, 2015, GungHo America president Jun Iwasaki revealed to GameSpot that Grandia II will be receiving an HD remaster on Steam and GOG.com. Based on the Dreamcast version of the game, the port will have mouse, keyboard, and gamepad support.
I have the GoG release which I picked up on some $3-5 sale last year, but I never got around to it, now I kind of don't care to as I have the DC original that may not be HD but it doesn't have the glitch or the file stuttering on videos.
One thing I'm not clear about is that it appears there are 2 PC versions. One was made awhile back for 32bit Windows7 and I think that had the problems and wasn't HD. If that's the case then the one on GoG and then Steam, that's a newer one that works correctly and is in HD.
Wasn't there an original PC version from back in 2002/2003/whenever the PS2 port came out? That was the version I was talking about, which I thought had been based on the PS2 port.

The game on GoG (steam too) is a remaster of the DC game. It has 1080p texturing, very high resolution capabilities, 8x msaa and a few other nice perks along with various textures being touched up. It's not a failfest like the shoddy PS2 garbage port. Crudely put, DC game run though a HD filter in a less than nice (but still good) way that say God of War on PS2 did when jumping to PS3.
Nice, I had forgotten about the Anniversary Release on PC. Yeah, that sounds like the best version to get if you don't have a Dreamcast.
