Not much of a story, no.

There's a guy here on one of the local AV forums that had some of his video game related gear up for sale. Not much of interest aside from a Game Boy Player w/ startup disk, and that GC Component cable.

I kept my trap shut and paid what he asked. No mess, no fuss. :P

Why buy a GC component cable when you can buy a Wii with component cables and GC controller for cheaper and has more features?

Gameboy Player, I would buy them for that alone.

Retron 5 and you get save states and can use a SNES controller. So for the same price I can get a Wii, Retron 5 and maybe even have moneys for a few games?

 Great find on the Gamecube Component Cable! I scored on one at Gamestop for five bucks a couple of years ago.

Agree, the GBA Player! Also Gamecube (some may not work on a Wii) games, and a Gamecube Gecko for homebrew games on SD Cards.

$200-$300?! That's way too much. I got mine for $115 in 2013.

The Game Boy Player outputs in 480p with those cables, which is a good reason enough, as everyone else has stated. Even on the non-progressive games, picture quality is unparalleled.

I thought all GC games are Wii compatible?

I've not heard of any GC games that don't work on Wii, only hardware like the broadband adaptor and GB Player.

The only thing that always bothered me about the Game Boy Player is the hitching in the scrolling. I know there are different filters to alleviate it, but it's still a bit annoying. Not annoying enough to not love having a Game Boy Player, but annoying nonetheless.
