Twilight Saga: New Moon.

Now, I don't care for Twilight (which I believe is nothing more than a tween-friendly bastardization of Anne Rice's "Vampire Chronicles"), but I saw the first movie and liked it enough to want to see the next entries in the series, but not enough to read the books (I actually tried to read Twilight, but lost interest after I picked up the first Sweep novel) or see the films multiple times.

Basically, I'm NOT gonna see this film, or even the first film, ever again. And same with Eclipse and Breaking Dawn. And I think I might see Breaking Dawn in theaters.

And not a "movie" scenario, but... I recently scored a copy of the Phantom of the Paradise novelization. It's been OOP since at least '75. And it's actually based on an early draft of the script. So far, two chapters in, it depicts Winslow Leach moving from his hometown in Maine to New York City and getting a room in a rundown hotel. Oh, and apparently Swan's given name is Alan D. Swan. It's also got a bunch of B/W shots from the films.

Did a random search, there seems to be some! On the right, click on the button that shows you all his uploads, and then just type in grump into the search, it'll show you all of his Here Comes the Grump uploads! I'll bookmark it for whenever I need a vintage fix.
Great thanks! We should do another round of vintage movie recommendations. Ack once wrote a list of 70s films but I'm having a hard time finding it  Watched Unbreakable this evening, for the second time, and apparently I blocked out the ending because <minor spoiler> the twist caught me off guard, and I was one of those who called it with the Sixth Sense, which irked me considerably </minor spoiler> :| M. Night Shyamalan is an underrated director, but I hope he doesn't pull another The Happening on us. I enjoyed it but people can be just unforgiving.

@REPO Man have you watched the new Repo Men movie yet?

Green Zone. I hate politics and saw this movie with a non-american who wanted to discuss politics.

Went back and re-watched Clerks for the millionth time. Even after so many repeated viewings I still find this movie truthful and hilarious.

Alice In Wonderland (The New One): I really did not like this movie. The whole thing felt flat and unappealing. We were just thrown into the story and it wasn't elaborated enough to actually make you care. All the events just seemed to happen rather than flow as a complete story. The Mad Hatter is my biggest gripe. He is not crazy like the hatter should be, but rather, he is predictable. It is obvious that he will stay on task (stopping the queen) until his circumstances are brought up and he gets angry. AND THAT DANCE >:O

The only part of the movie I enjoyed was the end when Alice tells everyone off and goes to talk business. The whole movie should have been 19 year old Alice serving as apprentice/partner to that old merchant guy. All the while, Alice has flashbacks of her original journey to Wonder... oh I mean Underland.

On a related note, the Vorpal Blade is a great weapon in Castlevania Symphony of The Night. (Though the weapon dropped by the Schmoo is much better.)

I finally watched Charlie and the Chocolate Family (the new one). I really didn't like this film. I just felt like there was no substance. It seemed like they had a couple of scenes they really wanted to put in (the kids learning their lesson scenes) and the rest was just rushing through with as many witty Johnny Depp zingers as possible. Johnny Depp really missed the mark on this character. Just too forced weird and eccentric. I have seen him play natural weird and eccentric characters before so I know he can do it, but this was a mess. Just be as annoyingly weird as possible, when it seems like it is too much, triple it. Kind of how I feel about the Pirates of the Caribbean movies - he did well with the Jack Sparrow character in the first one. Seems like they realized after that it was a hit and so he tried to force it too much in the next two films. I really loved the original Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, but I was excited to see a remake (I usually don't mind remakes, but actually like seeing different director's perspectives). This film, I just didn't see the point.

Decided to start watching movies again. So I just finished Labyrinth, awesome and lots of fun. Saw the Pianist yesterday, that has to be one of the best movies ever. And I watched Mystery Men the day before, which is funny, but doesn't rank very high on my ha-ha scale.

I disagree. I didn't like the Oompa Loompas in either version, but I enjoyed the newer one because it was more faithful to the book, which I liked a lot more than the old Gene Wilder film. They changed the ending, though.

The other day I watched "The Proposal" with my wife. It was pretty bad, but I'll admit to laughing a few times. I've never seen so much slapstick in a romantic comedy! It was practically a cartoon at times.

I just finished watching "The Fantastic Mr. Fox". I tend to enjoy Wes Anderson films, but pretty much hated "The Darjeeling Limited". This was much better.
