Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Hi to all; my name is Michael, I'm 25 years old and I've been a gamer about 18 years. My first console was a Nes and the first game I ran home to play was super mario. Since then I've owned about 24 consoles which I've never thought one to be better then the other it's always been about the actual game and if I had to choose a favorite I'd be posting this in 2035 lol but the first game I thought of was Tomba for PS for some odd reason. I've recently revived a few ps3s and on the verge of my first rrod revival which I'll post pictures of if possible. I bring this up because I may need help lol no seriously, haha I also decided to get into shell alterations like painting and designs and led exchanges. Which I also want to show if possible, honestly it's not the best work but for a first project I think it's pretty decent I mean practice is needed but you have to start somewhere right. I truly do love gaming I'm such a kid at heart, plus I like technology, drawing and art so modding is like the best of both worlds. I plan on practicing a lot more with my Ps1, Super Nintendo, N64 and there respective controllers, I chose these because I've seen alterations to all and I'd love to be the creator of something like that. Anyway, I hope to meet a lot of new people and make friends and exchange some gamer tags/psns...help a bunch of people and get help myself, well that's that, be on the lookout for "weather or Not it Works" -xbox360 shell too leave some advice and remember I'm a noobie so be nice lol

Stuff like NBA Jam and NHL '94 are my forte. Some simulators are good too, unless they get really slow and tedious anyways. Ya'll should try Konami's NPB baseball series if ye ever get the chance. I have a soft spot for hockey games, and oddly enough golf games.BogusMeatFactory wrote: Hey welcome aboard! It is good to have you with us! So you say you are a sports fan? Any love for sports games? If so, which ones? If not, why not?
A fan of film classics? Any that you particularly enjoy? I am a huge fan of the old school Charlie Chaplin, which was introduced to me by a friend. The Great Dictator Speech is phenomenal.
Also, last but not least, you are into the JRPGs? Any more modern ones that you prefer? I feel like the modern JRPG genre is struggling and am curious to know if any really encapsulate that old-school feel with a great story.
If you like Chaplin's movies, you should try Buster Keaton's. Best comedian of all time, and slapstick's master. His stunts were amazing, Jackie Chan actually cites Keaton as one of his biggest role models.
I'm not sure if I can tell you about that last one though, since I agree with you, the genre is kind of in freefall unfortunately. Maybe SMT, but I'm not really sure if the newer games feel that old-school, other than maybe the challenge levels some of them have.

Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Hi everyone. I've been reading the site for ages. Having F-Zero in the current Together Retro Club caught my eye so I started browsing the forums and thought I'd sign up.
From the 80s to the 00s I was a DOS gamer, though I got into 8-bit and 16-bit console emulation in the late 90s. I only got into gaming on actual consoles in the last say 15 years, and only then when the console in question was under $100 at second hand shops. Most of what I play these days is either old games, or new games made to look like old games.
I like roguelikes, Metroidvanias and generally platformers, adventure games like Space Quest, old first person shooters like Doom, and old driving games like Outrun. I like simple old fighting games like OMF2097, not complex ones where you have to learn a big heap of finger-twisting combos.
I'm a big fan of finding good video game soundtracks to listen to as normal music. I recently started a blog to rate and review some favorites, though I need to add more content. I like Linux and free software, I've had Android phones (and emulators on them) since the first G1. I've had a couple of old Linux-based handhelds too.
Well, that's me. I'll probably just lurk around for a bit and get to know the forums.

Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
Hello to all the new people that have come since my last welcome message!

Re: New Members: Introduce Yourself!
So I'm not new, but I never introduced myself. I'm looking to shift away from another message board that will remain unnamed due to my realizing that I'm just not having much fun there, for various reasons.
I'll pretty much play stuff on any system. I grew up with Nintendo, although I was really late to the party, having only gotten an NES by the time I was 11, which would have been... Christmas of '90. I had friends with a Genesis, and pretty much no one with a SNES, until I got mine at a yard sale in '95. With Final Fantasy III. Oh yes.
Anyway, I always drooled over some of the cooler stuff the Sega folks were getting, especially games like Phantasy Star IV and Shining Force. I finally snagged one (along with a Sega CD) right after the Dreamcast came out, and proceeded to purchase all those awesome RPGs I missed out on. That, and emulation, really made me respect what Sega was doing. I never stopped being a Nintendo guy, but that was the point at which I became a lot more platform-agnostic.
So now? I'll pretty much play any system. Just give me good games, and all is well. I mostly play RPGs, third-person action games, action-RPGs, platformers, and whatever else happens to hit me just right. I tend to avoid FPS and RTS, and there's something about mouse-keyboard that just doesn't gel with me, which would explain some of that.
That's probably enough for now. If I hang around, I'm sure y'all will figure out where I land on some of these things!

Hello from Australia
,
Been lurking these boards for a while and decided to join, I have been gaming since I was 8 and my first console being a Master System and have been gaming since going on 21 years now.
Have only started recently started re buying the consoles and games I'm interested in playing and so far have a PS1,PS2, Xbox and a Super Famicom.
Planning to get a x68000 in the near future and I look forward to getting to know the community more.

Um... Hi.
It's been a while since I've been here (years?) so I guess I'll have to re-introduce myself? ^^; I wonder if anyone here remembers me...
Yeah... I ended up falling out of retro gaming for a while (darn PS3!) but a recent anime convention pulled me back in! I hope I'll be hanging around here more often!
