@hazerd

I am impressed you still have the reciept . Why?

I wouldn't feel bad. Lets suppose you did buy them and keep them for 12 years in the future. How much are you going to make? $1500-$2500? I bet if you worked hard during those 12 years you will make a lot more in a lot less time.

I keep receipts in the game case for known to be expensive games such as Metroid Trilogy. No plans to ever resell, just reminder of how cheap I bought it as the game gets harder to find at a decent price years later.

Kept pretty much every receipt since i bought my GameCube in 2001, also when i buy a used game from a pawn/game store, i always tuck the receipt behind the manual in the case, unless its cart based.

Nice to look back on a game and see if its worth more now than when you bought it!

I feel the same way about Turtles in Time and TMNT Hyperstone Heist. There's this weird pocket of games that sell for ridiculous prices when everyone knows they manufactured the shit out of them. Honorable mentions include Moonwalker and Toejam & Earl.

Every other week I see someone finding a copy of Hyperstone Heist or putting it up for sale, so why the hell is it at $100 CIB??? I understand there's been a resurgence of these kinds of franchises, but then how do you explain Captain America & The Avengers holding at $20-30 CIB this whole time?

Sorry. Calling BS on some of these prices is becoming a way of life for me and I need to just accept it. You'll always have the "it's worth what people will pay" argument, but when one thing with the same key characteristics as another thing is $75 more expensive then that's something of a contradiction.

Well, the problem is that Captain America & The Avengers just isn't as good as Hyperstone Heist. There's still less demand for the former than the latter.

You see the same effect with a lot of Nintendo games. Considering how many were produced, many of the Nintendo NES games shouldn't sell for all that much, but there's more demand for them overall. I mean, how many copies did they make of Super Mario Bros. 3? Yet it still sells for $15 cart-only.

I do understand the griping, though. I really do. It keeps me from getting a lot of titles I'd like to have, what with the weird buying habits of other folks.

I don't.

It's one thing if an item never sells - and it is listed for $200. You can say - it's overpriced; the demand isn't there, etc.

If an item, say Hyperstone Heist, is consistently selling for $100 CIB, then it's worth that. This is such an easy thing to understand. Why would someone selling an item sell it for $50 when they can get $100? Because YOU really really like the game and YOU are going to actually play it. Stop it.

This price whining is incessant.

Ugh.

Going to try and get in the habit of hitting my favorite pawn chain every Monday and Friday seems to be the best days for finding new inventory.

Endgame (PS2)- $3

I've seen this game a couple of times, but never really looked at it closely since I always thought it looked like something from Alias  . Was happy to see it's actually a lightgun game always enjoy picking those up :).

Serious Sam(Xbox)- $3
This game series has been released on so many consoles hell I even had the GBA release for a while.

Xbox Exhibition Volume 5- $3
Have Volumes 1-5 now. Think there were only two more released after that.

Dragon's Lair 3d(Xbox)- $2
My collection was lacking any Dragon's Lair so I was happy to pick this up. It's pretty scratched up but it's mostly light scratching so worst case I should be able to save it with a run through my JFJ easy pro.

Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure(wii)- $5
Been meaning to pick this up for a while now, but I've never found it in the wild or at any nearby game stops.

Heavy Rain Director's Cut(PS3)- $5
Already have a copy of Heavy Rain back from when it first released. Interested to see what extra content is in the Director's Cut and replaying the game with Playstation Move controls might be fun.

Call of Duty Advanced Warfare(PS4)- $20
Not a huge CoD fan but they are decent games and it's cool to see what set pieces they have sunk millions of dollars into each year  . Always try to stick to the $20 or less rule with the series though.

Is it 4x the game that Cap & The Avengers is? That's hard to believe given they're both pretty well-done beat 'em ups.

It's no more incessant than the people that show up like clockwork to whine about the whining. See I "think" that games in general are too expensive but that's just an opinion. On the other hand to try and account for popularity, size of production run, etc. and still not be able to reconcile the prices of two seemingly similar games is another.

It's more a commentary on the people that splurge on the stuff than the people that charge those prices. Would you argue that a gold-plated cell phone cover is worth $5,000 because a bunch of yahoos are willing to pay for it? Of course not. I don't know why THAT is so hard to understand.

EDIT: A better example would be those Monster brand HDMI cables that are $50-100. Is something worth the price just because uninformed people buy it? Also there is a thread on NintendoAge with the title something like "Game Prices That Make You Go Huh?". Are those people all crazy too?

Yes, it is, and no, they are not. They may "seem" similar, but Avengers isn't that good, nor is it as good as TMNT. Is TMNT $100 good? That's a different debate, but have you played Avengers on the Genesis? Same genre =/= same game quality.
