Random question, but wondering if anyone has suggestions for protective sleeves for magazines or player's guides? I have a bunch of Nintendo Power magazines and some random guides I'd like to put in sleeves. A point in the right direction for a suitable vendor would be appreciated!
Also, curious about protective cases for cardboard box Genesis games, if anyone knows a reliable site or vendor.

For the box protectors, check Stone Age Gamer.

Some of the guides don't work too well because they are big and hefty. For example, some of the later Final Fantasy guides are several hundred pages long.
But, for Nintendo Powers, I have seen people use Comic Book style sleeves for them. If you go to any local Comic Book store, they should have some for sale. I'm sure you can also buy several online. Pick up the small piece of cardboard and then the plastic sleeve that goes over it all.

Appreciate the info Ziggy and Markies!
Will check Stone Age Gamer for those box protectors and continue to browse online for the magazine sleeves.

Heard about a spiritual sequel to Patapon called Ratatan, got excited, found out it's a roguelike with multiplayer elements, rolled my eyes, and moved on with my life. I heard that the new Double Dragon game is a roguelike too.
Gaming is so boring in 2023. Everything is the same. Every game has to be a roguelike, or "Souls-like", or "open world". Yawn
It does make me appreciate sites like this even more though.

Yeah, it makes me pine for the days when every game was a Doom clone or a mascot platformer.

It did get to a point of shovelware with jumping mascots, Streeet Fighter wannabes, and (to me) every JRPG is the same but developers were not afraid to make new and different things. That being said, things are just as much or more flourishing in new ideas if you know where to look.

I don't know. I feel like the world's creativity is stagnating, in all forms of art and entertainment.
Re: Random Gaming Thoughts
We're old. The world isn't bright and shiny and new anymore. Now we know more about the connections to past works and can see them, so it seems less interesting. Plus, now we have the open access of the Internet, so we can explore easily, which in turn means we are overwhelmed by how much there is but also can learn it, be inspired by it, and see that inspiration in others...where it is called out and seems stagnant to us because we know where it came from.
The important thing to know though is that there is still more out there that we don't know, and we may not yet even be aware of where to look to find it, but we will one day, and more will be revealed, and we'll be learning and inspired again. And in the meantime, we can share what we have found and teach the folks who come along next about the wonders that we found.

The thing I find interesting about these movements is how they all feel the same now, but I feel like after a decade or so we'll see which ones aged well and actually stood out. For example, the PS3/360 era had all of these third person shooter and beat em ups. I played on recently that wasn't well received at all called Neverdead. Turns out it's just awesome, and I think it's because of the batshit insane gimmick they've used.
