If you are presented with another opportunity, you should move. Your parents clearly have enough family in the area, and you need to do what is best for your family and your children.

mjmjr2 - I would love to see your workshop. I use to do alot more woodworking, I have built rocking chairs, arcade cabinets, shelves, benches, etc. But that was when I had access to a wood workshop. Next house (which is looking like next year), will get a full wood workshop as an out building. That way I have the ability to build much larger things.

Frag - I hate to say it, but sometimes you have to just have to take family as it is. It sucks and I feel for you, but its one of those things that if you batten down the hatches and get through, things will be better at the end.

Agreed, but obviously is it easier for others.

I would say roughly 70% of the people I know still live relatively close (two hour drive or so) to their parents. I would also say 90% of that 70% revolve their parents schedule. Change of a family structure is at times too difficult for some as I've seen marriages end over what I would call trivial issues with family.

As far as I am concerned, once you are wed, it is now your own family. Going to Grandma's for lunch every Sunday is a thing of the past unless you choose to visit. If you are a no show, that is your option to choose. I've stated before that my wife and I have Christmas at home and don't travel as it's our day. Family is welcome to visit, but it's my family, and we'll have our own traditions.

And I don't think Frag comes off as a jerk here, but he shouldn't be upset because of a double standard. His post started off with "no weekends" and then shifts to "but...". If his parents do x for other family members and does y for him, who cares? My parents bought my Sister a Cessna 172 when she was fifteen, a new Ford Taurus when she was sixteen, and paid her way through college and to get her doctorate. I got my first car when I was twenty because I had to pay for it. I paid my way through school. So what? Parents are like that whether intentional or not.

tldr: always do hat is best for your family, and don't stress if your parents have double standards.

Smile: Wiffle ball game at 5pm. A mix of twelve guys and gals so far. So we should have a catcher, pitcher, 1st base, short stop, 3rd base, and outfield covered for two teams. SS can cover second, and since we're playing in a relatively small field, with a wiffle ball, one person in the outfield should suffice.

Have the beer and big league chew ready.

If i'm ready to rip my hair out even when I know I did it right and the program shows that I did it right, then I think I do. I mean pictures don't lie but apparently the system does

Well, her work-related stress, yes. Her vaginal expulsions, no.

This, so much this. I hate people suborning themselves to their relatives because they feel obligated due to "family". Family is not an obligation, and it's not a free pass to be an ass to someone.

I was ribbing you for "who is a proofreads and fixes documents at her work for a living", as that statement would make a proofreader cringe. aka, just giving you an elbow.
