Too much momentum with the NSMB games, but they're still good.
Not enough momentum with World.
Yes, I am being picky.
How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?

I could almost get behind the order of this list, but the problem is you put a fake non Mario game in the top spot. That's the start of the Yoshi series of platformers, much like how Super Mario Land 3 doesn't exist, it was put there to peddle new franchise Wario Land which was a start for that ones growth.Exhuminator wrote:I can't miss a chance to rank!
Most favorite to less favorite 2D Marios:
Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
Super Mario World
Super Mario Bros. 2
Super Mario Bros. 3
Super Mario Bros.
Super Mario Land 2: 6 Golden Coins
Super Mario Land
Mario Bros.
I haven't played Super Mario Bros.: The Lost Levels yet.
Personally I don't know what I'd put on top for SMB3 or 4(World) as it's kind of tricky. Throw away the graphics and audio upgrade to 16bit and go by core mechanics it's a really hard call. SMW may have had a little bit longer stages and Yoshi, but the cape was mostly aping the racoon/tanooki tail in 3. SMB3 had a heap of somewhat shorter stages, yet it had a lot more land diversity and a heap of unique suits to change into which gave it a unique amount of quantity and quality (super, fire, frog, tanooki, raccoon, hammer bros suit...) it got crazy.

Yes, I've beaten the DS, Wii, and 3DS entries. I didn't list them because the games use a lot of polygons and aren't 100% 2D (graphically speaking). They play 2D style though, I get what you mean.Ziggy587 wrote:What about the New SMB series? Have you played those?

Yoshi's Island never appealed to me much for whatever reason (maybe the mechanics, maybe the level design). It's pretty though.

Thanks guys for creating a fun and fascinating read these last few pages. I won't go into my opinions because I'm not big on the genre despite having beaten a bunch of these. But I will say that I appreciate the different gameplay style of SMB2 versus SMB. Neither are bad, just different, and the series overall just ended up favoring the SMB approach. The important thing is that Mega Man is better.

Yep.
To clarify, all of my friends' undying love of SMB3 is one of the reasons I hated it, because they ignored the good stuff like Mega Man. Mega Man was absolutely my favorite series of games on NES back in the day, and MM2 is still one of the greatest games of all time.
My favorite platformer on the system is Kirby's Adventure, though. Fight me.

Kirby's Adventure kicks ass. Why would I fight you over that?
Re: How Is Your SNES Gaming Going?
Because Metroid is better.

You're all wrong.
Bionic Commando is the best NES platformer.
Though Mr. Gimmick is a close second.
