Together Retro: Beat-'Em-Ups
Re: Together Retro: Beat-'Em-Ups
The slowdown is indeed unfortunate, but I definitely had a blast with it back in the day. Definitely solid stuff.

I've got a soft spot for that arcade game. Of all games in the world, it was the first one I ever beat co-op with my wife (back in 2010).Sarge wrote:Just finished the brawler-adjacent Bucky O'Hare.

I made it to Chapter 5 of 7 in Final Fight: "Streetwise" tonight. I fought Japanese schoolgirls with katanas. A dojo caught on fire. A priest paid a guy to murder a mafia godfather. I played a memory card game with a psychic. A meter maid paid me to beat up a car. A tattoo parlor owner bashed me over the head with a cash register. I had to kill 20 drug addled rodents in under 30 seconds. Mike Hagger and Guy showed up, they taught me new moves. We beat up some skinheads. This game is like a cruder more insane Shenmue.

Re: Together Retro: Beat-'Em-Ups
A game I purchased to play this month has finally arrived, so I'll try and commit some time to playing through Advance Guardian Heroes this weekend.
Still haven't found the time to get to Alien Storm yet either

Re: Together Retro: Beat-'Em-Ups
Last night i beat my number 1 beat'em up , but this time, in 3D!!!!
Streets of Rage 2 improved in every aspect and it is a better game no doubts , but Streets of Rage has a soft spot on my heart since i was but a kid.
The music and presentation, for me, are yet to be surpassed by any game of it's gender.

It was the first time i played in 3D and the game fits nicely on the 3ds screen, colors and sprites really pops and the added 3d's distance is amazing.
I also started by the first time Double Dragon Neon (And i have yet to finish DD Advance) and i already love it, i think the "rpg" aspect of it is a better implementation of what arcade's Double Dragon 3 was trying to achiev, i'm on misison 6 already.

Advance Guardian Heroes is down. Fun game. What should I play next: Gekido (GBA) or TMNT (GBA)?

I'd be interested to know how the TMNT GBA game is...prfsnl_gmr wrote:Advance Guardian Heroes is down. Fun game. What should I play next: Gekido (GBA) or TMNT (GBA)?
I am currently finishing up the Thor NDS game (a WayForward title) which is really pretty (if easy).

Between those two, go for TMNT. The two Gekido games I've tried were not very good.prfsnl_gmr wrote:Gekido (GBA) or TMNT (GBA)?

TMNT it is! Thanks guys. Fun fact...the game was released for the GBA in 2007!
Re: Together Retro: Beat-'Em-Ups
I'm late to the party, but which TMNT are we talking, Konami or Ubisoft? I didn't care much for the Ubisoft one, although I still hear good things about it. The Konami one is a single-plane platformer/brawler, and I really liked it a lot.

The 2007 Ubisoft one. It is on Racketboy’s hidden gems list, along with Star Wars: Episode III (GBA). If I can get a copy of that game, I might try it too.Sarge wrote:I'm late to the party, but which TMNT are we talking, Konami or Ubisoft?
