Well the newer standard model has a larger screen than the normal 3DS and I think the frame is a little larger too. Maybe it will be comfortable enough if plates are that important.

I personally haven't decided which I'd pop for.

My brother works at gameplop. He showed me a 3DSXL box that shows a retro NES controller inspired design.

He also told me the 2DS is being discontinued. If you want a 2DS, they are getting marked down to ninety-nine dollars new, eighty-five dollars used.

^^ I wish the console skin looked as cool as the box. Seriously, I wouldn't mind a 3DS that looks like an NES when it's closed. Having a controller on the top part is pretty lame. They should have made the bottom portion on the inside look like an NES controller.

This! I would've gone for that and it would've been more appropriate looking to me(and a whole lot cooler I might add)

I'd love to own one of those models of sp....but the *ahem* "nintendo tax" on it is way too freaking high

2DS is being discontinued? Man, wtf. That is Game Boy Micro levels of short life.

Looks like I better get off my ass and buy one. Not like they're terribly expensive but still...

YEAH. Actually, I've searched once or twice for a skin that looks pretty much like that for my 3DS.
