Huh, just based on the name, I always assumed Gun Nac was a spoof of Zanac.
The compile thing makes much more sense, since Gun Nac plays nothing like Zanac (unfortunately).

Gunhed is also 25 years old as of 7/7.
Anyone else feel old now? I like the commercial though. Let's play it! Let's get it!
BYYYYY HUDSON!

Thanks for the correction guys, Gun-Nac was the only game I'd played/seen so I'd always thought it was one of those natural NES-to-SNES jumps. I'll make an annotation in the video.

I think the name is meant to be a combination of Gunhed and Zanac but it borrows most of its gameplay from Gunhed.dunpeal2064 wrote:Huh, just based on the name, I always assumed Gun Nac was a spoof of Zanac.

It's worth playing Gunhed and the Star Soldier games on the PCE if you like Space Megaforce because they're pretty similar in style.

Re: SNESdrunk reviews
As a 2D platforming fanatic, Skyblazer is a game that I really, really want to like. Ultimately it's kind of bland though.
When I first played it I was like, "wow why don't people talk about this game?" As I went on it started to become apparent that there wasn't a lot of substance behind all the style and the control is a little wonky.
It looks cool and it feels cool but at the same time it doesn't really stand out and set itself apart.
It's a nice little hidden gem regardless and one I'd still recommend trying.
I'm really looking forward to see more Super Famicom stuff, though I really like your critical takes on the "classics" as well. Congratulations on 1000 subs!

I had such low expectations heading into playing Skyblazer since I'd barely heard of it, that influenced my opinion a bit.Gunstar Green wrote:As a 2D platforming fanatic, Skyblazer is a game that I really, really want to like. Ultimately it's kind of bland though.

Thanks! I really hope to do a Super Famicom RPG video (of the games that have been translated to English at least) although that uh, might take a while.Gunstar Green wrote:I'm really looking forward to see more Super Famicom stuff, though I really like your critical takes on the "classics" as well. Well that's about how I'd describe that one too. I never touched it before, heard of it and seen a few pictures before hand and that was it. I played it for an hour or two and ended up not disliking it, but not liking it either, I just got bored. I don't keep boring games anymore so it went bye bye. It's like a lot of modern games in a sense where you have plenty of period level flash and flair, but once the fluff gets comfy the rest can't keep it going for long.Gunstar Green wrote:As a 2D platforming fanatic, Skyblazer is a game that I really, really want to like. Re: SNESdrunk reviews
Also about Gun Nac, I thought that was a spoof of Zanac not Gunhed(Blazing Lasers.)
Re: SNESdrunk reviews
Skyblazer totally surprised me. A true hidden gem on the SNES.
Retronauts just released a nice 30 minute podcast talking about the game. It was developed by the same team behind Hook (SNES port).
