I do. I never use the lances. Just spears/halberds. I find them much more useful, even if they are a bit weaker.

I don't ever really use Hans or Diane. I find both rather useless. :D The centaurs can throw things. You can get 3-4 other characters who also can throw things. If you want an archer, Lyle is the one to use! You don't get him until I think chapter 6, but... he is probably one of the best characters in the game when you level him up (Bleu is THE best).
Haha, I knew I was totally mixing up the weapons there. So yeah, lances are the short range ones, and it's spears and halberds I'd guess that you throw.

Also wow that completely makes sense about using the centaurs for range instead of archers. I imagine they always have higher HP and other beefy stats like that, and they have way better movement. So yeah, I guess I'll just consider using only one archer in the future when I get more characters, or just stick to the centaurs. Heh.

Haha. It does work to level him...

Once you get Kokichi (make sure you watch him do a test flight in chapter 3!!!) and Guntz, they can both use centaur weapons. Yup, Kokichi is basically a flying centaur! Lyle, while a centaur, uses ranger weapons. I like all three for my long-range characters (not counting magic users).

Tao is weak. Ice magic better than Fire magic.

Chapter 3!

Beat Marionette on my first try! But she literally took out like 6+ people or something in the process and it was close... lol.

I'm on the battle against Kain. THOUGHT I was gonna beat him, then I thought I was gonna Egress out of there and just gain the experience, and then I was dead.

on the flip, the first battle of Chapter 6 (the one where the golems and mages appear out of nowhere in the woods) I had forgotten to raise some of my dead party members. So I went into the battle with only 6 or 7 characters. So I figured, OK -- I'll just leave Max (well actually my Max is named BRA) right at the beginning of the map so he won't get touched, I'll let the remaining 5 or 6 do some grinding and I'll just Egress ouf of there when need be. But I actually beat the battle using just that half-party. Pretty awesome.

It's all about character placement when it comes to winning battles I've found. Lazy placement = death.

I've found I like to hold staggered placement with ranged backing up the rear.

That's how it looks in a straight line anyway. Also positioning just outside of the enemy reach so I can get the first strike.
