Yeah I'd say so. They let go of the entire development team halfway through production, that's about as cancelled as you can get.ZeroAX wrote:Actually it kind of was. But then it was resurrected.flamepanther wrote:DNF was never officially canceled though.MrPopo wrote:Duke Nukem Forever came out.

Re: Megaman legends 3 Cancelled
oooh boy. The Megaman fans are only going to get more pissed at you Capcom (me among them).
The link is currently dead, probably the traffic took down the site, but when it's up you can read the full story:

Till then here's part of the interview that talks about what happened with Keiji wanting to complete MML3 and Capcom not letting him.

“So, I told them that I was going to found my own independent company and leave Capcom. However, I stated that I was ready to make a contract with them so that I could keep working on those projects that I started. I couldn’t start making contracts with other publishers for sure if Capcom agreed to the proposition, but I wanted to see those projects that I started to completion. But it couldn’t be done. They answered, ‘We have no need to do that.’”
“…Finding the right time, gathering the team members, planning strategies, all so we could barely start on Mega Man Legends 3. I really don’t want to quit at this crucial moment…but I can’t keep going at Capcom. I am too tired to keep going. I wanted to leave Capcom to recharge my energy, and support Capcom from there, but it seems they don’t allow it. I want to make all my effort to keep Legends 3 alive, but I’m really not sure I can do it.”

There's an article about that interview on the IGN DS site - http://ds.ign.com/articles/119/1195061p1.html.
I believe the interview was done in December 2010. Not positive though.

Yeah. It's an old interview, so nobody's saying it's going to change anything. Just more drama about the cancellationflamepanther wrote:Hmm. Isn't that sort of what Inti-Creates was already for though?

I feel bad for Keiji, he never really gets his way when it comes to Mega Man games. They messed up his story ideas for the Mega Man X series. He didn't get to do the Mega Man X remakes he wanted to do because of poor sales of Maverick Hunter X. Now this

The original franchise was my favorite.Gamerforlife wrote:I feel bad for Keiji, he never really gets his way when it comes to Mega Man games. They messed up his story ideas for the Mega Man X series. Re: Megaman legends 3 Cancelled
It sucks but I'm glad Keiji got out of Capcom. It sounds extremely obvious in all the interviews over the last year or so that he had put in his time with them and was ready to start fresh with new ideas, something many big developers especially in Japan aren't willing to risk. Something is a hit, and they turn it into an empire. I'd be kind of funny if we could someday (unless he's already said it), hear how many games of Mega Man Keiji actually wanted to make in the first place. It's kind of like Tomino, the creator of Gundam, only wanted to make one series and that was it. Originally it got canceled but then the movies came out and it was a hit, they put him to work on sequels and now it's Sunrise' empire, but Tomino doesn't care for much of it and back when he was busier, was essentially tied down by the Gundam name while his other lesser known shows that he cared for more didn't take off. I guess Mega Man is dead to Capcom anyways now, but now they'll continue to bury Resident Evil while Mikami probably continues to bust out a puke bag or something.
Gotta feel bad for these creators/designers sometimes, when they make a hit it's turned into a franchise and they're tied down to it stripping them of more freedom unless they finally jump ship. Which has definitely been happening a lot lately, especially with Capcom.

Re: Megaman legends 3 Cancelled
Unfortunately all the extra coverage didn't help the group much
.
Anyone wonder when exactly Capcom devalued the franchise so much? On one hand the 6 Megaman games on the NES alone (plus 3-4 on the gameboy) couldn't have helped, but on the other hand the X series did kind of revitalize the series.

Not enough steroids in Mega Man I guess.
