Yeah, I used to really like the Game Chasers. They definitely got me hyped about finding cheap games in the wild. I feel like their channel has gone downhill though. It seems like they're more interested in stroking their egos at conventions now. They put out very little great content anymore.

Not a fan of Game Chasers, though I can't stand any content that's dedicated solely to owning and spending money on games. Not the reason I got into this hobby.

As for James, I enjoy watching his Monster Madness every October.

Never really got into Game Chasers, but I appreciate the work they put into it. It has an obvious American Pickers feel to it and I don't blame them for shooting for the moon in hopes of maybe one day getting on television with it. The scene might have cooled off in recent years, but not too long ago those type of shows were red hot and networks were all over anything resembling Pawn Stars.

I don't see that ever happening. Old game stuff is too small circle of stuff. Pawn Stars ans Storage wars and stuff just deal with whatever interesting happens from all of the varied things. You can do a car show like this because even if there's a dry spell for 'barn finds', there are always people that buy cars and give up on restoration projects. Plus once you get a car, there's the whole restoration that's interesting with lots of opportunities for pictures alone the way and finding parts. With game stuff, finding it is just about all there is. Cleaning a dirty system isn't interesting other than a before and after and there aren't that any systems to tell the Cliff's Notes history for them every time. With games you can't have too many 'we didn't find anything' episodes.

He didn't really influence me, but when he started getting popular and people took his opinion of video games as law, it made me realize how easy it is to mold people's opinions. Especially when they haven't had any experience with the specific subject.

Me neither, just saying if I had the time/energy/ability to shoot it that way I'd probably do the same because there was a time when those ideas were what networks were looking for. Definitely a niche like you said, but you never know. There are reality shows about moving companies and lemur colonies. If at one time G4 (when it was around) or SyFy was looking to get in on the Pawn Stars craze that might've been something they'd be interested in.

Thank God that stuff isn't on mainstream television. We already have enough doofuses who think every dusty old Atari, Nintendo, and Sega console ("still works!") and cartridge they've held onto is now "old", "rare", "collectible", and worth a fortune.

Truer words my friend. My local craigslist has a guy that's been trying to sell an Atari and a handful of games for $200 for at least a year.

I can't say much for the AVGN other than it influenced me to not act like that in person or camera, not get that into the stuff, and to try and be overall better with gaming because being a person like that is not someone to look up to at all.
