Played some Homura this morning... got my ass handed to me, it's been way too long since I played this game.

Playing Shienryu Explosion now. A great unknown sequel!

Metal Slug 2 - on Neo Geo AES.

Hello? Tech support? I can't figure out how to edit my forum signature...
Re: What shmup are you playing now?
I've hit a brick wall in R-type Leo. I can't break into the 700k high score area nor make it past level 4 without dying somewhere randomly in the previous levels which hurts me later on. So I decided to check out Blue Wish Resurrection and Blue Wish Resurrection Plus. These are free PC shmups that feature Cave like gameplay and decent soundtracks. I find Plus is much easier due mainly to the slow down but has much better music. I can't even hear the music in the non-plus version but its there playing really low. There is hardly any slowdown at all which makes it significantly harder. Maybe I need to tweak the settings to get the sound to work and it won't be so quiet. This was my first attempt at a Doujin shmup and was pretty impressed!

Im playing Lords of Thunder on Virtual Console but I really suck. I can beat most of the levels, but I use all of my continues doing so! I've still not managed to beat more than two levels consecutively - this game is hard!
But oh so awesome

Gradius V, what else.

Re: What shmup are you playing now?
Ikaruga, the first shmup I'm trying to beat. I've heard that after playing 7 hours I get unlimited continues, something good for a person like me who sucks at shmups. After a few hours I do feel I'm getting better and hopefully I can get into other shmups after this.

Ikaruga is like being on vacation compared to Gradius V, but yeah it's good too...just not manic enough to my taste.

Once I get my VGA cable I plan on picking Ikaruga up again. I kept dying at one of the later levels. I never heard about the unlimited continues though.

Re: What shmup are you playing now?
what's this "continue" thing you guys speak of?
In all seriousness, when I get a new shmup sometimes I'll use continues to see further into the game than I can get on one credit. Other than that, I play 1 credit. If I lose those lives, time to start over.
