That's why I narrowed scope, though the main Simpons cast has remained unchanged since those first bits in 1987. Dan Castellaneta still voices him.
Mariska is more believable, but same, has she been a re-occuring character or one of the main characters on every episodes? I never saw Law&Order.
She is one of the main characters. It's possible that there are episodes without her, but not too many. And I kind of doubt that Frasier appeared in every Cheers episode after his season three debut.
and I guess I am ignorant, but as for Susan and Roache , have they been like a main character in most episodes or re-occuring character over the years? WHO WATCHES A SHOW FOR 60 YEARS?! Even the viewers are dead, and I do not assume those picked up later on it are willing to watch 20 years of past episodes!
Soap operas are weird. Being a USAian, I don't know a lot about Roache, but Susan Lucci was on a daytime soap opera called "All My Children" that put out a new episode every weekday, year-round. They have huge casts and a bunch of story lines going at once so that they can keep up with that ridiculous schedule. They don't expect people to go back and watch a bunch of back story. They just have really long plot threads that you're supposed to be able to drop in and pick up on. She was definitely one of the main central figures on the show.

I will go right out and say I assumed wrong about Fraiser , but even Fraiser is ridiculous . I mean imagine starting acting a character at 30 and ending it when you are 50!
I do not understand those soap operas or the appeal , I mean I watch a show to see the end of the story not to have a forever going story. It kind of defeats the purpose. It was one of the reasons I stopped watching Prison Break. First season was cool and okay, but after that they obviously just kept lengthening the story just for the views and making more money nothing else. Lost had like 2 extra seasons because of this.

I never thought I would live to see the day where the digital copy is more expensive than the physical produced one.
Double funny, you can't resell the digital one.

So, I had the realization the other day that I live in a world that feels like it's on the verge of some kind of apocalypse and I spend most of my days socializing with two friends, one who constantly champions a kind of radical individualism at the expense of any kind of social cohesion and another that advocates for law and order even if it sometimes results in the loss of personal freedoms. Gang, I think I'm about to star in a Shin Megami Tensei game

That would definitely be a much cooler apocalypse than the boring one we’ll probably get…

So a libertarian and an authoritarian. Now you need a collectivist to round out the spectrum. Can’t have a battle of just two philosophies. You have to up the stakes!

I heard in human history never has been so much peace and prosperity has ever been achieved. These are the best times humans have lived through. I kind of lived some of it myself. When I was younger having a cell phone was a sign of the super rich. Today people who live in slums of 3rd world countries have a touch screen phone with internet access.

I question how accurate the textbook history is; Especially the stuff in our textbooks I was taught that were written in the 70s. As they say, history is written by the winners. I think a lot of what I was taught was extrapolated from old data.
Despite that, most of the younger co-workers I work with seem to have slept through history class, or the schools have deprioritized the events in the wars the american and canadian military have participated in. Somehow my brother and I have been asked to explain world history to many younger people. I wasn't even close to a good grade in those classes, tho I read a lot of books back when that was the easiest source of knowledge.
The stuff we reference from written records was made by a very small group of people who were educated. The amount of people is growing exponentially and despite the inaccuracy of old records, we now have a pretty accurate census of various decades.
I know that the false claim that "the number of people alive now is more than all of the dead" is completely false, but the more realistic estimate of 7% still astounds me.
Certainly that technological nexus is astounding. Despite a large population having access to information, I'm still terrified of being a small minority of educated enough people.
Every site I work at is built to exploit the resources in my province.
In 2011, the main company that employs me, which was founded by a guy I am still friends with got bought out and didn't change its name.
Every industrial site I work at except one is now bought out.
40% of the sites I worked at when I started my career have been shut down (pollution control) and cut apart, then shipped to China to be reassembled and run again.
17 years ago I was working for locally owned companies to fix locally owned factories. I talked with the owners as I did my job.
I'm now doing the same maintenance jobs, but i'm employed, paid and working for companies and sites that are all based in China.
If some large portion of the world population decides it wants to do anything, I don't know who might stop them.
To say I'm concerned about this is an understatement.
